#LTfriendsgiving // the lazy girl’s guide to celebrating holidays abroad

Having been best friends for almost twenty years (!), we’ve developed quite a few Lazy Travelers’ traditions, but our absolute favorite has to be our annual #LTfriendsgiving. Since our time in New York, we’ve made Thanksgiving together a yearly event, and in 2013, we took it on the road to Ashley and Jeff’s cottage in Fontainebleau, France. Since then, we’ve carved the turkey in Henley-on-Thames, England in 2014, Val d’Isère, France in 2015, and this past November, Montreal, Canada. [photo via instagram] Though we’ve become masters at taking the festivities on the road, we originally found it a bit tough to try and recreate the magic of one of our favorite holidays without our usual resources. Now in our fourth year abroad, we’ve put…

weekend warriors // #LTfriendsgiving in val-d’isère, part 2

Oh, you thought we were finished professing our love for our holiday getaway to Val-d’Isère? You were wrong. So very, very wrong. If you read the first post detailing our #LTfriendsgiving weekend in this snowy alpine town, you’ll know we spent the majority of our time eating and drinking with our feet up by the fire. Though we could have happily camped out in our chalet for the entire weekend, Saturday morning marked the official opening of Val-d’Isère’s ski season. As long-time (but admittedly infrequent) skiers, Carolyn and Jeff were itching to hit the slopes, and though he had never skied before in his life, Sean was willing to give it a try. When in…

The holidays have come and gone, and we’re pretty sure that no one’s more mixed up than we are to see this season go. On the one hand… a whole year to wait until Santa returns and we eat all the Christmas cookies guilt-free. Whomp whomp. On the other hand, the end of this month marks the wino’s first wedding anniversary AND the expected arrival of the romantic’s little lazy baby! Whoop whoop! In the meantime, while we sort through our emotions, we figure the best way to cope with how fast the festivities came and went is to relive the #1 highlight of our holiday season: #LTfriendsgiving at our VIP Ski Chalet in Val-d’Isère.…

#LTfriendsgiving // an alpine road trip with @Auto_Europe

Depending on where you live, you might be dealing with the same (disappointing) unseasonably warm weather we’re each facing in Philadelphia and London this holiday season. While it looks like a white Christmas will take place only in our dreams this year, we can’t complain too much — we had a quick preview of a real winter wonderland during our very alpine #LTfriendsgiving, and it was everything we wanted and more. We have lots to share from our long weekend in the French Alps, but we thought we’d start at the very beginning: with our snowy Auto Europe car trip through the winding mountain roads that took us from Geneva to Val d’Isère. First step: choosing the perfect…

In case you missed it, in less than three short weeks, we’re heading to Val d’Isère in the French Alps for our annual #LTfriendsgiving. We’re just about bursting at the seams for a weekend of fresh white snow, fireside drinks, and most importantly, lots and lots o’ Thanksgiving leftovers. Though we could happily stay in our pajamas for the entirety of the weekend, we know we have at least one night of après-ski on our schedule, meaning we’ll have to ditch the sweats at some point. So, how to pack for a weekend of carboloading and lounging, while at the same time keeping up an air of extremely stylish après-ski-goers?  With some inspiration from Mark & Graham, our…
