#LTportugal // three nights in porto

Bear with us for a moment while we ask you to reach back into the far corner of your memory. Please remember that approximately four months ago when we went to Portugal. Yep, complete with a tour of the Douro Valley and three nights in Porto. Seems like a distant dream, right?? We spent a full week in Northern Portugal, drinking wine and exploring the Douro Valley, and bookended it all with a little preview of one of our new favorite cities: Porto. Though we hardly scratched the surface on everything the city has to offer, we made a valiant effort. With two days and three nights, we crossed the city on foot. We wound…

#LTportugal // the wines of northern portugal

When it comes to wine — and wine tourism — we’re not going to pretend we’re sommeliers-in-training. We don’t care about your tannins or your vintage. It doesn’t matter to us if you use French oak or California oak. We certainly aren’t impressed with a bottle just because it comes with a high pricetag. Expensive wine can be lovely, sure. But as we’ve learned time and time again, so can a lower priced bottle of something small-batch and locally made. Nothing has proven this to be more true than the wines of Northern Portugal. This is why, at our villa in the Douro, we weren’t concerned when our host told us his own wines were…

#LTportugal // four days in the douro

If you may recall, last year in Spain, we promised ourselves that no matter what, we would make a proper summer holiday happen again this August. Just recently, we made good on our promise. Now we’re here to tell you about our two days in Porto and four days in the Douro. True to our word, we picked a week, marked our calendars, and then promptly let life take over. We kept agreeing to pick a destination later. We just made the definite plan to go somewhere warm, and somewhere with serious pool/beach time. Later showed up in June. Do you know what it’s like to plan a sunny August beach vacation in JUNE? Practically…

style spotter // from the country to the city with @loandsons

It happened. #LTportugal came and went, and August is almost over. The leaves in London have already started to turn. AND we’ve picked our destination for Friendsgiving! Yes, as always, the circle of life continues. And, much like the predictability of seasons changing and vacations ending, we officially conquered our latest country together in style. Better yet, we conquered our recent destination from the country to the city, and back again. All while accessorizing accordingly, mais oui. In case you missed the memo, we spent one week in Northern Portugal, splitting our time between Porto and the Douro Valley, which is, arguably, Portugal’s most famous wine region. For throwing this trip together at lit-ra-lly the…

travel announcement! one week in northern portugal

Last August, as we floated around the pool at our villa in Spain, cocktails and mocktails in hand and bellies full of manchego, we vowed that a week-long Lazy Travelers’ summer vacation most definitely had to become an annual tradition. Fast forward ten months, and we decided: a do-over was necessary, and this time with one week in Northern Portugal. So many of our travels are hectically scheduled between other commitments or jammed into weekends. It felt absolutely luxurious to vacation in one place for an entire week. Now, a year later, it’s time to make good on our promise to ourselves. Relaxin’ to the max in Valencia, Spain. When we told people we were…
