a lazy girl’s guide to 48 hours in geneva

When one of my best friends in the world, Amy, moved from New York City to Geneva for a new job, I started plotting ways I could make the trek across the Atlantic and meet her in Switzerland. After almost a year and a half of waiting, the stars finally aligned with a two-part ultimate reason for bringing me to Geneva. Reason #1. With my 30th birthday looming on the horizon, my mom wanted to throw me a birthday party. I kindly declined, but suggested a different idea: what if we planned a mother/daughter birthday getaway to see Amy in Switzerland? (This plan worked.) Reason #2. It was Amy’s year to choose the location of…

#LTfriendsgiving // an alpine road trip with @Auto_Europe

Depending on where you live, you might be dealing with the same (disappointing) unseasonably warm weather we’re each facing in Philadelphia and London this holiday season. While it looks like a white Christmas will take place only in our dreams this year, we can’t complain too much — we had a quick preview of a real winter wonderland during our very alpine #LTfriendsgiving, and it was everything we wanted and more. We have lots to share from our long weekend in the French Alps, but we thought we’d start at the very beginning: with our snowy Auto Europe car trip through the winding mountain roads that took us from Geneva to Val d’Isère. travel announcement (part two)! a week in switzerland for the wino

It’s been a really big year for me. I mean, really big. In January, I married this handsome devil. I had a year of travel firsts, from my trips to southern and northern California to our epic and life-changing #LTsouthafrica adventure. I spent time in London, re-discovered Spain, and spent many weekends toasting to dear friends at weddings, housewarmings, baby showers, and thirtieth birthday celebrations. I could happily hang my hat after 2015, but unbelievably, it’s not over just yet. You may have already heard, but in less than three weeks, Sean and I are headed across the pond for #LTfriendsgiving, the alpine edition. What you may not know is that I’m extending my trip…

Pretty easy, considering last month’s trip to the winter wonderland of Switzerland. We’ve packed our recent posts with snow-filled photography, so we thought we’d go more avant garde for the #frifotos challenge. Snowflake lights in Vieille Ville, Geneva If you’re dying for real snow, check out our instagrams: @_theromantic & @_thewino And hey, we have some snowy photos on our Facebook too. xo! the romantic & the wino

the lazy travelers take europe: the wino’s highlights

I’ve been looking forward to writing this post for a while, but now that I sit down to do it, I’m getting majorly overwhelmed by all of the wonderful things we got to see and do (and eat and drink) on our European adventure. Short of copying down and posting my journal word for word, there’s no way to capture all of the things I loved about our time in Switzerland and Ireland. And no offense guys, but I don’t really want you reading my journal. After careful consideration, this is what I’ve come up with: Bern Oh Bern, you stole my heart. You weren’t even on our original itinerary, and I apologize for that.…
