weekend warriors // venice with a toddler

Every year since we got married in 2010, we try and take an anniversary trip to celebrate. In the states, we usually planned our annual vacation for the fall, and just rolled everything into one. Living in London, we’re beyond lucky that weekend trips to some amazing destinations are so easy and (relatively) affordable. Think Tuscany, Copenhagen, and somewhat recently, Venice. Ah, yeah… Venice with a toddler? Si. The thing is, we’ve been to Venice before. Our first trip was on our honeymoon, so we felt relatively well-versed with what to expect. A few people raised their eyebrows when we mentioned we were taking Margot. The ones who asked if we were taking her buggy…

weekend warriors // a weekend in milano

If you caught our recent post about exploring a city on a time crunch, or have been following @lazytravelers on Instagram since at least November, then you saw that I (fairly) recently visited Milan, er, Milano,  for the first time. To be totally honest, I had minimal expectations. Milan seems like a city that most people either love or hate. The ones who love it, love the nightlife, restaurant scene, and shopping. How do you maximize your time when navigating a new city, cramming in as much wonder as you possibly can in 18 hours or less? Ehhhh…. that is just not our style. In news that will shock no one, we don’t really like to feel pressure to sight-see . We’d rather just enjoy…

If you follow us on Instagram and/or Snapchat, then you know one thing to be true: lazy baby‘s entry into the world may have put our travel days on pause this winter, but we’ve certainly been making up for lost time. After her first trip to Cannes in March, we reset the clock and started counting down to our next adventure: a week-long visit with my parents, featuring a mini hop to Italy for three beautiful days in Tuscany. But while Chianti was our real destination, we couldn’t take these two first-timers to Italy without a quick stint in Florence! Like our last trip to Chianti, we flew into Pisa and picked up a rental…

weekend warriors // chianti is for lovers

Without getting too mushy, this year has been one of our very best to date — and I don’t say this lightly, because the competition is tough for that title. Though the hubs and I arrived in London in 2014, it was in 2015 that we finally settled into our life here. Now, just over a year after we made our move across the Channel, we’re thrilled to have found a city that we think will stick. You know, unless they kick us out. 2015 is also the year we officially decided we’re ready to extend our little family, and most recently, on September 18, we celebrated five years of married life. Five years! Like…
