Entirely unexpectedly, 2014 has become the year of Italy. Before we came to INSEAD, the hubs and I knew we had about three week-long breaks, and one 3-week winter holiday. We mentally filled those weeks very quickly, and booked them nearly just as soon… and no where, not once, was Italy included in our 11-month plan. Well, well, well! Hello and happy Sunday! Or maybe Monday? I guess it all really depends on when you decide to read this, but that doesn’t change the main point, which is this: as I type, I am less than 12 hours away from boarding a flight for Capri, Italy. It’s no secret that we’re food lovers. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m a foodie–both because I think that term is silly and because I have been known to choose Shake Shack over Smith & Wollensky–but I definitely appreciate both eating and making good food. baby you can drive my car

I hate to drive. Well, that’s a lie. I don’t HATE to drive, but I don’t love it the way some people do, and I certainly would never consider doing it while on a nice, relaxing vacation. I even feel stifled in the passenger seat of a car, and usually fall asleep within about five minutes anyway. I’ve never been the girl who “just needs to go for a drive” and when we’re visiting family in PA, I’m all about letting hubs drive around–who, generally, lies a little further on the “yes” side of the “do you like driving?” line. Because of this, we never really considered renting a car while on vacation–especially in Europe.…
