I just know that it’s been at the top of my list for a long, long time. Unfortunately, it’s one of those destinations that comes with a lengthy list of solid reasons not to go. As anyone will tell you, if you want decent weather, you have to go in…

two nights in edinburgh: the scottish silver lining

I don’t know what it says about us, but we really left each leg of our Scotland trip convinced that the next stop would be better than the last. This remained mostly untrue, until we got to our two nights in Edinburgh. Ahhh, Edinburgh. As you may recall, things started off rough with a fire alarm in Glasgow, and didn’t get much better as we drove through the wet and foggy Highlands. I mean, we think we did? We couldn’t really see anything… the map said we did. Still! Despite our incredible ability to screw this trip up in every…

scotland: so these are the highlands…

The morning after what shall henceforth be known as the Glasgow Catastrophe, we woke up… hopeful. We were heading to the Highlands, and things couldn’t get worse, right? RIGHT? Eh, right. Things didn’t get worse, per se, but they most certainly didn’t get better. one night in glasgow: where things went awry

Hello and welcome to 2015! The holidays were everything we needed this year. They were relaxing, full of good food, and complete with lots of catch-up seshes with loved ones. This outcome was a huge relief, because things did NOT start off on the best foot. It started, unexpectedly, one night in Glasgow. If you’ll recall, shortly before our generous holiday break (thank you, European vacation standards), we made some last minute plans to head up to Scotland for a few days. We had return train tickets from London to Glasgow, a motorhome ready and waiting, and a loose itinerary…

pre-christmas in scotland // to the highlands!

As is customary, about a week ago, the hubs and I were drinking wine and brainstorming. Unfortunately, we won’t be going back home for Christmas this year. Upon realizing that today is the hubs’s last day of work until 2015, we reached the obvious conclusion: We should go on an adventure! Because our revelation was too last minute to scrounge up a pug sitter, sticking to the UK was key, and because Scotland has been on the list for-LITERALLY-ever, it wasn’t a very long discussion. Pre-Christmas in Scotland? It’s settled. On a Scottish roadtrip we shall go. I’ve been feeling…
