i love you, summer fridays

Ahhh Friday, je t’adore. There is no day that makes me happier than you do. Except perhaps Summer Fridays- the Fridays that fall between Memorial Day and Labor Day when offices across New York City set their employees free at 2:00pm (or in my roommate’s case, the office closes altogether.) Summer Fridays normally mean weekend getaways. Today, the Romantic is on her way to New Jersey for a family party. And me? I am on my couch catching up on Jersey Shore. This is a staycation weekend for me, which means good cheap fun in the Big Apple and maybe, if you’re lucky, some weekend blog posts! Have a great weekend, little travelers, no matter…

the ten types of travelers

While my self-assigned Jetsetter title hasn’t been mine for very long, I’ve traveled with enough people to know that there are more than a few different kinds of travelers. Since most people don’t start out friendships or relationships in middle and high school knowing to ask what kind of traveler they are–or that this could be a very important bit of knowledge later in life–it was a lucky coincidence that the hubs, the wino, and I fit squarely in the same type. More importantly, favorite meal: Favorite meal is easily when the Romantic and I ate at Chateaux D’Eze in France.  Beautiful weather, amazing view, impeccable service, and all in a town with buildings…

how to survive the debt crisis (and other important tips)

The debt crisis is taking over my life. And I’m not talking about the plummet of the DOW. I’m talking about my personal bank account and the incredibly disproportionate ratio between its balance and my student loan totals. Whatever crazy bank analyst decided it was appropriate and reasonable to loan me enough money at age eighteen to spend four years at one of the most expensive schools in country must be in cahoots with the other lunatic that sent me abroad to write my Master’s thesis. I am swimming in debt. Combined with my New York City rent, I’m pretty sure I live below the poverty line. The good news is, I’ve spent the last…

weekend in the country: bucks county

We have a serious case of Monday brain. Mixed with the rain and our usual Monday blues, we are both feeling some major writer’s block. But don’t fret, we would never leave you hanging. Enjoy a mini-photo diary of our perfect weekend in Bucks County, PA. There were sunflowers There was kayaking in Lake Nockamixon There was a pug in a boat There were oyster shooters at 86 West …and roasted beet salads AND FUNNEL CAKE (!!!) Not seen in photos is our mini-high school reunion with friends and their ADORABLE baby girl, lots of quality family time, birthday celebrations, home-cooking, and (too much) wine in the backyard. Now it’s back to the real world,…
