weekend warriors // 48 hours in copenhagen

In an effort to move forward around here, we’re carrying on with our content as planned for the rest of the year. It feels a little weird, to be honest, but, you know. Here we are. If you missed our post-election reflections, you can find them here. In the meantime, it’s back to our travel tales, little lazies! —– This is going to sound so dumb, but as we neared the end of the summer, I realized something. Based on our projected travel plans for the rest of 2016, I was scheduled to visit ZERO new countries this year! What the what?! This has been a year of returning to old favorites, which I certainly…

what now? // reflections on the american presidential election

The past 48 hours have taken a toll on us. On all of us. Like so many, we waited for November 8, 2016 for a long time. After proudly casting our Pennsylvania state ballots, we watched the results come in on Tuesday night from our respective couches, across an ocean and across timezones, 3,500 miles apart. We were confident that the American people would elect the most qualified candidate; the person who had spent years fighting for women and children, supporting our beloved New York City during a time of tragedy and heartbreak, traveling the globe representing our country, and dedicating her life to the American people. We were 110% ready for this person to…

#LTportugal // the wines of northern portugal

When it comes to wine — and wine tourism — we’re not going to pretend we’re sommeliers-in-training. We don’t care about your tannins or your vintage, it doesn’t matter to us if you use French oak or California oak, and we certainly aren’t impressed with a bottle just because it comes with a high pricetag. This is why, at our villa in the Douro, we weren’t concerned when our host told us his own wines were €5/bottle. As it turns out, inexpensive but delicious wines are kinda Portugal’s thing!…

style spotter // #LTgreekweek: mykonos edition

WELL, hello, October! Fancy meeting you here! We must admit… we’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for this month to arrive since our planes’ wheels met the pavement post-Portugal. That’s because in just a few weeks (days, practically), we’re off on another grand adventure: MYKONOS Yes, correct, our trip with MyGreek-Villa is just around the corner, and naturally, we’re starting to figure out what the heck we’re going to wear! As we’re going a little after peak season, we’re hoping for perfect pool weather… but nothing’s a guarantee, so we must be prepared. Unfortunately, we’re terrible at being prepared! What we’re not terrible at, however, is scrolling through the endless pieces on Polyvore and wishing our own…

#LTportugal // four days in the douro

If you may recall, last year in Spain, we promised ourselves that no matter what, we would make a proper summer holiday happen again this August. True to our word, we picked a week, marked our calendars, and then promptly let life take over. We kept agreeing to pick a destination later, with the definite plan to go somewhere warm, and somewhere with serious pool/beach time. Later showed up in June. Do you know what it’s like to plan a sunny August beach vacation in JUNE? Practically impossible, is what. Most places are booked, and everyone you talk to is a REAL Debbie Downer about weather, crowds, etc. As per usual, we let our conscience…
