might as well face it…
Hello, my name is…well, you can just call me the wino, and I am an addict.
“Addicted to what?!” you may ask, and it pains me to tell you that the answer to that question is… well, everything. I suffer from what some may describe as an addictive personality. Chances are, once I taste something, smell something, or see something that I think is even mildly enjoyable, I want to experience it again. And again, and again, and again. Luckily, I have a pretty stellar set of parents which instilled in me all the proper do’s and don’ts, so I’m not addicted to any of the hard stuff (see: drugs, gambling, fast cars). But, when it comes to eating, shopping, and traveling, I’m a full-blown serious addict. My latest obsession: Etsy.
I had heard the romantic talk about Etsy back in her wedding planning days, but I never took the time to see what it was all about. Friday afternoon, while watching my new favorite show on HGTV (“The High Low Project”, get into it) I saw a really cool idea to make an ottoman out of an old wine crate. Drinking meets home decor sounded right up my alley, so I went on an internet search for something similar and stumbled upon a link to an Etsy shop. Aaaaand hooked.
I spent an embarrassing amount of time browsing shops until I found MyraMelinda, who has one of the coolest collections of vintage knick-knacks ever. After a painstaking deliberation between five items, I decided there were two things I absolutely couldn’t live without:
Vintage Whiskey Wooden Crate Box
Fleur de Lis Cast Iron Paperweight
I know the last thing I need is a new addiction that perpetuates my spending habit, but most of the shops are run by young artists who just want to share their passions with the world, and as a part-time travel blogger, I can relate to this. I maaaay have a tough time explaining these purchases to my fiscally responsible boyfriend when they show up at our door, but every girl needs an antique whiskey crate, right?
xx,
the wino
