happy birthday to the wino!!
Be back soon with our weekly jetsetter (who we’re very excited about), but wanted to post a very important HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the wino!! This time last year, I had (selfishly) convinced the wino to move to New York, and it’s hard for me to believe that one year later, she’ll be spending the same weekend moving out of her first New York City apartment. I’ll miss her so, but tonight we’re celebrating as real Upper East Siders, with dinner at Flex. Along with mussels & frites & donuts, tonight is sure to include lots and lots… and lots of…

two days in amsterdam
I know this will come as a surprise, but we really didn’t take much into consideration before deciding our fall trip this year. It was a quick chat before we settled on on two days in Amsterdam, plus Bruges, Brussels, and London. Eastern Europe was at the top of our list, but we knew we wouldn’t have enough time to plan that trip the way we wanted to…. and our foresight couldn’t have been more correct. Lazy or not, we needed straightforward stops requiring little advanced planning. We were lucky to find that for each stop, this was definitely the…

birthday, beer, and an attempt to take down my bucket list
Apologies in advance, friends. I’m on my fourth cup of coffee and still struggling to keep my eyes open. Birthday weekends are the best/worst. Because I don’t have the energy or focus to be a real person today, let alone a blogger, I give to you another photo essay of my weekend excursions. In short, I crossed the High Line off my NYC Bucket List (wahooooo), drank a lot of beer and ate a lot of pretzels at The Standard Biergarten, and recovered with a Sunday brunch at the Barking Dog and dinner at the Romantic and Hubs’ where I…

no travel required
Well we just figured out our travel plans for April. George Clooney set for Harley Davidson tour of Ireland in April YUMMM. We always dream about a tour of the Champagne region, but this post makes us want to check out the Prosecco region of Italy just as much. Lovely bubbly: a taste of Italy’s Prosecco region This is genius. And making us hungry. Pastry Paris WELL this is horrifying for about a million reasons. Though we’re split on catacombs–the romantic thinks they’re interesting, the wino thinks they’re appalling. Discuss. 8 Creepy Bone Churches in Europe Cornwall just shot up on…

the official rules for a perfect staycation
Is it wrong to admit that we’re kind of over this “real world” nonsense? WE don’t mean to complain—we are aware it’s completely ridiculous—but sometimes, we just can’t cope with the realities of Monday morning. So much so that by Tuesday, we are usually twitching for the weekend to get here. Blame it on jet lag, but when a friend from high school was making a business trip up to Manhattan and staying at a hotel in midtown, we were all about crashing this trip and making it our own mini escape. When we woke up in the morning, we…
