pura vida // thirty days to paradise
HEY! GUESS WHAT? I just realized that today marks the official one month countdown. So, so soon, the hubs and I depart for sunny (rainy?) Costa Rica & Panama. PURA VIDA, INDEED. Pour yourself a glass of wine, and let’s discuss what I’m most excited for! Shall we? We shall. Life on a coffee plantation at Finca Rosa Blanca Full disclosure: I’m not a coffee drinker. When I have the teensiest bit of caffeine, my insides feel like they’re trying to get out of my body and I get a crazed look in my eye and I can’t sit still for…

no travel required
G’day travelers! The wino is still relaxing on the beach in Avalon, and the romantic is locked in the concrete nightmare that is NYC, running around like a madwoman today. So when we traded texts this am about Sark in the Channel Islands, we both slipped into our usual pattern of wanderlust. The beach is the perfect place to daydream, afterall, and who doesn’t enjoy escaping their desk for a few minutes to think about far off places? Channel Islands: holidays on Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark Pardon us while we mentally island hop for the rest of the day.…

jetsetters: @workmomtravels
Oh hey! It’s jetsetter day is here again! Today’s jetsetter is Francesca of Working Mom Travels, and pretty much what we want to be when we grow up. CALM DOWN, EVERYONE (mom). We are clearly not on the fast track to mommytown, but we love love love that Francesca didn’t change her wanderlusting ways for baby. Also? We are always team-local-vacation, so all sorts of bonus points for you, Francesca. Enjoy her interview below, and then pop over and say hello to Francesca on Twitter @WorkMomTravels! Favorite Place: I’m always reluctant to pick one place/city/country, because every place I’ve traveled holds something…

weekend warriors // rocky mountain highs & lows
When the hubs and I booked our Rocky Mountain weekend getaway in Keystone for TBEX, we decided that there were some must-sees outside of the conference. Ok, fine, there were also maybe a possible safety net if the conference ended up being très awkward. Neither of us have spent much time in Colorado, so we had a few things on our weekend checklist: Red Rocks Park // I don’t remember much from my first family visit to Colorado, but I remember the Red Rocks Amphitheater very clearly. Unfortunately, we didn’t check the website to see what the day’s schedule was like (typical).…

we’re having a heat wave, a horrible, urban heatwave
Yes, we’re having a heatwave. No, not a tropical heatwave. An URBAN heatwave, which, in case you’re wondering, is the worst kind of heatwave. We love when friends and families come see us in our respective homes. Unfortunately, we cannot tell a lie. June through August in NYC and DC are not the ideal months to visit. Both citites are sweltering. Public transit is full of sweaty, stinky people. And despite it all, tourist numbers are way up, making everyone agitated and confused. Though we like to focus our summers on beach vacations vs. city exploration, we’re no strangers to…
