radisson blu carlton: a tale of two rooms
With only one night in Bratislava, we wanted to make sure our hotel selection was top notch. We went back and forth on whether we should just hightail it to Vienna. It didn’t take much research to find the Radisson Blu Carlton, however. It took even less time to become completely charmed with the idea of staying there. We were pretty into its central location, the reasonably priced rooms, and a facade that looked like this: Photo courtesy of the Radisson Blu Carlton Here’s the catch: from the minute we stepped in to the Radisson lobby, our experiences were… very…

foodie break: crown on the upper east side // (note: NOW CLOSED)
If you’ve been with us for awhile, you might have picked up on something: the hubs and I have moved to France. Returning home after our RTW was bittersweet, and not only because the first part of our adventure was over. It quickly turned into another round of goodbyes with all of our most favorite people. And honestly, that was hard enough the first time! The worst goodbye of them all? Saying au revoir to the wino, le duh. Unfortunately, our three week stint stateside didn’t leave much room to visit our beloved New Yorkers. Notice I said New Yorkers,…

sitting pretty: ten days in melbourne
As you may recall, the hubs and I treated our ten days Melbourne as a bit of a home base during our month in Australia. We didn’t stay in the same place the entire time, mind you. We chose to split our nights between the Westin Melbourne (ahthankyou, Starpoints) and an AirBnb apartment share. But staying put for an extended period was exceptionally nice after so much hopping around in New Zealand. Obviously, even though we planned to slow down in Melbourne, we didn’t really stay sedentary for long. Instead, we spent ten days trying to enjoy all the city…

style spotter: bratislava
Like I mentioned before, despite my best efforts, I ended up packing pretty poorly for my #LTeuropa adventure. In Budapest, I was kicking myself for not packing any articles of clothing that could stand up to the inferno-like temperatures. By the time we reached Bratislava on our third day, the temperature had cooled slightly, so I thought for sure I could throw together an appropriate outfit with what I had packed. Wrong, of course. Looking back on our time in the Slovakian capital, I can’t help but daydream about all of the things I wish I had packed– and what…

#LTeuropa bucket list takedown: one high-speed catamaran, please
When we we first planning our LTeuropa itinerary, we assumed we’d be taking trains to get us from city to city. That is, until we heard about the Twin City Liner, a high-speed catamaran that runs between Bratislava and Vienna. Never ones to shy away from advice from a local–or a photo-op (like, how good would we probably look on the deck of a ship, hair flowing in the breeze??)–we quickly added a high-speed catamaran ride to our official bucket list. For only 20euro, the catamaran was a less pricey alternative to the train travel we depended on for most…
