pura vida: navigating manuel antonio
I knew that life would be different after visiting Manuel Antonio. Up until now, we hadn’t seen much in the way of wild animals. Though we were enjoying our time in Costa Rica just fine, something was lacking. That’s because everything else up until this day was BS. Before Sloth. The morning of our planned day at Manuel Antonio, I was all atwitter. What should I wear? Do sloths prefer bright colors? Are they deterred by bug spray? I just wanted them to like me. Though we’ll get to the sloths, I do have a few bits of advice to…

why knowing another language makes you the most attractive person in the room (and other petite lessons)
Ok, here’s a secret. I speak another language. Oui, oui, I speak French. Poorly, and with an accent that sounds British depending on how many glasses of wine I have. But the truth is, I’ve been parlez-ing the francais for a pretty decent amount of years. I struggled in high school (conjugating verbs is like, really hard), and I took French an embarrassing amount of semesters in college. But finally, when I moved abroad during my junior year, I reached a certain level of fluency. This was mostly due to my living with Madame, my 75-year old landlord who didn’t…

jetsetters: @amysho
Along with Noah, we also had the pleasure of meeting the lovely and talented Amy, or @amysho, of Amy Hit the Atmosphere at our TBEX-inspired tweet-up. No one should be surprised that we were there til the very end of our little gathering, and Amy was right next to us (along with Brit!). We knew then that we would get along just fine. Even if she did peer pressure the romantic into doing a shot of Jack. (That was your fault, right?). ANYWAY. We strongly encourage you to follow Amy on twitter. We promise you’ll like her. Enjoy! Favorite Place: I…

an announcement! (yes! another one!)
In a week full of exciting announcements for The Lazy Travelers, we have one more for our readers and fellow bloggers. In honor of our upcoming trip to Switzerland (which happens to be the very first trip abroad that we’ve taken together since launching this little blog), we’re hosting our first ever contest! Do you want to see the romantic yodeling through the Alps? Or perhaps you’d like to see how many pictures of the wino we can capture in her mink hat? (Yes, she has a mink hat). Is there a hostel where you want us to sleep, or a restaurant…

pura vida: boozing & cruising, cruising & boozing
After dominating the ziplines of MidWorld, the hubs and I were eager to celebrate–but having already spent a good amount of time at the bar at Los Altos, we were looking for a bit more excitement. We stopped by the front desk on our way back to our room, and the attendant could not have been more insistent of what we should, nay, MUST do. A booze cruise. I know, right? Group activities featuring crappy drinks and the inability to escape should everyone else suck tend to fall into the “hell NO” category when traveling, but I don’t know. Having…
