happy friendsgiving!
Happy, happy Friendsgiving, one and all! And, like, happy Thanksgiving if you prefer to be more offish. As we write this, the wino and her other half are en route. Yes, never you fear. They definitely made it out of the states, despite the snowstorm nonsense. The romantic, meanwhile, is preparing in Henley avec Mr & Mrs. O Around the World… who may or may not have forgotten to pick up the turkey. But! All is resolved. Now, dear old Burt the Bird is basting in wine. This very obviously means we’ll all get along just fine. Two years ago,…

five lessons for an american expat in london, as told in MIC gifs
Well, hi! Hello. In case you haven’t noticed (and, let’s be honest, you probably haven’t), posting has been a bit light around LTHQ. This is all thanks to big changes for both the wino and myself. Namely: I am fully adjusting to life as an American expat in London. This obviously doesn’t mean that things have been light behind the scenes. Things have been ca-razy behind the scenes. I won’t bore you with the details, but basically, we both moved at almost the same exact time, and it’s been a reeeaaaal process. Throw in the wino’s wedding planning and a…

autumn in the cotswolds: a photo essay
A few weeks ago, the hubs and I celebrated our four year wedding anniversary. On the actual day, we ordered a bunch of Italian food from our new favorite restaurant around the corner (Portobello Garden, they don’t have a website because they’re just that old timey and Italian?), but because we haven’t left London in over a month, we decided a weekend getaway was in order. In the end, we settled on a first time trip to explore autumn in The Cotswolds. Our only requirements? Driving distance and dog friendly, as we’re still trying to get the pugsitter sitch in order. Obviously,…

travel announcement: the friendsgiving to end all friendsgivings…
For all of those in despair over the end of our #LTeastcoast coverage (we know there are AT LEAST one or two of you), we have the best news in weeks! There’s another Lazy Traveler’s reunion on the horizon. This time, it’s all in the name of FRIENDSGIVING. We’ll be meeting in the land of all the greats. Home to Shakespeare and Dickens and Hugh Grant and Harry Potter! There will be pints and fish and chips and perhaps one or two restraining orders filed by the royal family. If you haven’t guessed it by now, my fiancé and I are…

my hOtel: a cottage outside of henley-on-thames
Just outside of London, about one hour by train, there’s a little town called Henley-on-Thames. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this pocket of England three times in my life: the first, on a Beatles bus tour of England when I was in the eighth grade. You’re jealous already, I know. That, however, is a different story for a different day. George Harrison’s former estate might be what introduced me to Henley, but there are now two far more VIP residents making themselves known in the area: Mr. & Mrs. O, of Mrs. O Around the World fame. My first visit to…
