foodie break // 2016’s best restaurants in notting hill

    January 26, 2016 /

Next month, Jeff and I will mark a year and a half of living in London. This by no means makes us an expert in, well, anything, but we have spent a fair amount of our time here eating. And eating and eating. In fact, we’ve spent the last 18 months on a tear through basically all of the restaurants in Notting Hill. An important fact: pregnancy kept me from drinking for about 50% of our UK expat life. This means that trying new restaurants, especially for brunch and lunch, has become one of our favorite weekend date activities. Our…

weekend warriors // christmas in the cotswolds

    December 21, 2015 /

Back in July, I declared Christmas to be my first real pregnancy craving. For whatever reason, I was more than ready to unpack my coziest sweaters — er… cosiest jumpers, if I’m tryna fit in around here. I just wanted to fast forward to December, and I began planning everything. From where we would put our tree to the perfect wintertime countryside escapes. My grandest idea? Christmas in the Cotswolds. Because I don’t have a time machine, the hubs indulged me with the next best thing: planning beaucoup de festivities. We agreed on a date night in Hyde Park’s Winter…

foodie break // exploring east london with eating london

    November 4, 2015 /

When we first moved to London, people warned us that once we settled in, it wouldn’t be long before we were stuck in our neighborhood bubble. We’re more than familiar with this phenomenon. You fall into a rut, with the ease of your local bars & restaurants beating out any interest in leaving. If you live in West London, which we do, then forget exploring East London. Or really, any new neighborhoods. True to form, it happened pretty instantly. Each weekend rolled around, and we didn’t venture too far out of the way. We happily dedicated weekends to exploring our…

the lazy girls’ guide to the city of london

    October 28, 2015 /

Like all good getaways, our #LTlondontown weekend extravaganza came and went all too soon.  While the wino crossed an ocean for our mini-autumnal reunion, the romantic crossed town. This may not seem like a big deal! But we met back up in a part of London that she rarely explores: the City. Yes, it was just a weekend excursion. But we still feel confident that we crafted the perfect itinerary to present you with our own little guide ot the City of London. It surprises most people when they learn that London has two districts: the City of Westminster, and…

a day at the spa // so SPA at the sofitel london st. james

    October 15, 2015 /

In these last 25 weeks, I’ve learned that the daily aches and pains of pregnancy are no joke. They might not be constant, and they might not start right away. But at some point during your nine months, you will experience leg cramps. Or foot cramps. Or hip pain that makes you want to curl up in a ball and sleep until the baby shows up. I’ve tried everything, but nothing has been nearly as indulgent or relaxing as my prenatal massage at So SPA at the Sofitel London St. James. Lucky for me, my hip pain arrived extra early.…
