weekend warriors #LTfriendsgiving // an intro to thanksgiving in val-d’isère
The holidays have come and gone, and we’re pretty sure that no one’s more mixed up than we are to see this season go. It kicked off with an intro to Thanksgiving in Val-d’Isère that we’ll never forget. After that, it was basically non-stop Christmas cheer until the New Year. So on the one hand, we have a whole year to wait until Santa returns. Nearly 365 days until we eat all the Christmas cookies guilt-free. Whomp whomp. On the other hand, the end of this month marks the wino’s first wedding anniversary! AND somewhere in there, we have the…

#LTfriendsgiving // an alpine roadtrip with auto europe
Depending on where you live, you might be dealing with the same (disappointing) unseasonably warm weather. It’s definitely what we’re each facing in Philadelphia and London this holiday season, and it is BLEH. But while it looks like a white Christmas will take place only in our dreams this year, we can’t complain. We had a quick preview of a real winter wonderland during our alpine roadtrip for #LTfriendsgiving, and it was everything we wanted and more. We have lots to share from our long weekend in the French Alps, but we thought we’d start at the very beginning: with…

a weekend in paris & a sunday at les puces
Recently, much to our surprise, we found ourselves very happily headed ack to Paris. With a long list of things to do and places to go, we wanted to revisit our old haunts, and explore some new ones. Friday in a tiny wine bar, Saturday in Tuileries, Sunday at Les Puces. You might be wondering why a craving for such a perfect-sounding weekend would be a surprise. When we left the Île-de-France in July, London-bound with two giant suitcases and one little pug, I wasn’t exactly sad. It’s no secret that I had maxed out on quaint country life, and…

three top euro destinations that no one’s talking about
If you’re planning a holiday getaway, chances are you have a few obvious destinations on your list. Perhaps a trip to Vienna or Berlin to stroll the traditional Christmas markets? Or a family getaway to Aspen or Vail to hit the slopes? By the time New Year’s Eve rolls around, you may be on your way to Edinburgh for Hogmanay! Or New York City’s Time Square to watch the ball drop (god bless your soul)! But what about the top Euro destinations that don’t get enough love? We’ve had our fair share of ski trips and holiday markets in traditional…

parisian favorites from a year in the île-de-france (part 2)
Much to my surprise, after one year of life in the Île-de-France, I’ve learned that Paris isn’t just all eating and drinking. During past trips, I didn’t care to see much else… aside from, you know, see the Eiffel Tower. Strolling leisurely through the city is still my preferred method of Parisian exploration. Now, with the touristy things out of the way (ahem, Mona Lisa), we had to prioritize. This was only magnified by the fact that return trains stopped running to our village at 11:19 PM. SHA-OOT ME NOW. If you missed part 1 of my Parisian preferences, pop…
