Seven years in, and I’m realizing that New York and I have a full-on emotionally abusive relationship. While walking to the subway after work yesterday, gazing at the lit-up trees and listening to the Christmas carols floating out of the festively decorated shops down by my office, it hit me. I stick it out year after year for one single thing: Christmas in New York. Yes, May in New York is beautiful. Greetings from the land of the unemployed! Now that I’m temporarily back in Bucks County, I’ve got Christmas on the brain. It’s been all wreaths and cookies and decorating here. Today, I made my way to Peddler’s Village, one of my Bucks County favs, to do some Christmas shopping and to check out the annual Gingerbread house display. This year, my favorites included Hagrid’s Hut and Old McGregor’s farm from Peter Rabbit! The next few days will be busy busy busy while I prepare for my move back to the District. a very upper east side thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! In honor of the holiday (and to give a glimpse of true Thanksgiving gluttony to all our non-American readers), we’ve put together a little photo essay. This past Saturday, we achieved the unimaginable. The Romantic and the Hubs hosted a Thanksgiving feast for 12 in their Upper East Side apartment. A full-on sit down meal complete with a 20lb turkey, stuffing, casseroles, mac and cheese, about four variations of potatoes, and a spread of desserts. Applaud here. happy birthday to the wino!!
Be back soon with our weekly jetsetter (who we’re very excited about), but wanted to post a very important HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the wino!! This time last year, I had (selfishly) convinced the wino to move to New York, and it’s hard for me to believe that one year later, she’ll be spending the same weekend moving out of her first New York City apartment. I’ll miss her so, but tonight we’re celebrating as real Upper East Siders, with dinner at Flex. Along with mussels & frites & donuts, tonight is sure to include lots and lots… and lots of…
