foodie break: eating like a local around the globe

    June 29, 2014 /

We admit it: we’re travel obsessed. Sometimes, physically traveling isn’t even enough to satisfy our never-ending wanderlust. In between trips, we spend a fair amount of time online reading about other people’s travel experiences. During one such recent reading sesh, we found this article from Laura Bloom at Yahoo Travel about eating like a local in Costa Rica. It really resonated with us! From city to city, one thing that stays constant throughout all of our travels? A desire to experience the local culture through its food and drink. Yes, we normally steer clear of guided tours. But in unfamiliar…

Our full itinerary from five months on the road. We started in NYC, moved west, and learned... we're not very good at being traditional long-term travelers. At all.

Psh, you didn’t think I was going to let the wino re-live her favorite #LTeuropa moments without diving into my own, did you? Alas, after reading her post, I realized… our favorite moments overlap, like, a lot. This probably shouldn’t surprise you, but I was hard pressed to come up with things I loved more than the wine, the road trip and the reunion. But then I remembered: I spent two weeks in Europe with the hubs and two of our best friends. It’s actually harder to narrow down my highlights because really, pretty much everything was a highlight. So,…

With the retelling of our harrowing experience in a Viennese dungeon (you know you want to click that link), our #LTeuropa coverage is coming to end. Which, truth be told, kind of makes me want to crawl into a ball and weep. Sadly, I have no trips to Europe in the near future, and even sadder, no way to see the romantic until the spring. Woe is me. WOE. IS. ME. Because you can never have too much of a good thing (or because I’m refusing to let it go), here’s one more trip down #LTeuropa lane. Eastern European Wine…

taste hungary: eating our way through budapest

    August 7, 2013 /

After spending our first night in Budapest wining and dining at the Four Seasons Gresham Palace, we woke up ready to continue our culinary exploration of Hungary. Though we normally wander our way through a city rather than schedule a specific itinerary, we decided that with only forty eight hours in Budapest, we’d leave the planning up to the experts. We chose Taste Hungary as our guide, a food and wine company that focuses on true cultural experiences. Seeing as they have a recent post on their own blog about the best places to daydrink in Budapest, we thought we’d…
