travel therapy
After a four-day weekend relaxing in sunny Bucks County, I’m having a more difficult time than normal adjusting back to my routine in Rockville. Maybe its the unseasonably warm weather (90 degrees in DC yesterday??) or the proximity to summer, and thus vacations? Whatever it is, I have a case of ants-in-the-pants that just won’t go away! And while plenty of people are well acquainted with retail therapy, I personally prefer travel therapy. The best way to deal with my impatience? Laying out a few impending travel plans on this here trusty travel blog, but of course. I know you’re…

when travel plans change (and not because we’re drunk)
Want to know a secret? The hubs and I already have our travel plans planned out for almost every weekend of our summer. We’re those people. The biggest plan of all? Moving our annual 10-day trip from October up to July/August. Everyone agrees that traveling in the off-season will save you money and you’ll hit less crowds. Unfortunately–and maybe this is a sign of growing up?–a summer trip made more sense for our work schedules. The fall is an insanely busy time for us, and we thought a mid-summer getaway would make the dreaded segue back into work a little…

the wino’s travel substitutes
Maybe its the winter blues or maybe its because I’m a girl and this is just what girls do, but I definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Residents of Rockville beware, this girl is CRANKY and I’ve decided that there’s nothing in the whole wide world that can help. Except maybe a weekend getaway, which isn’t at all possible because I’m babysitting four children under the age of eight on Saturday. Woe is me! There are only a few things that I know can get me out of this funk. Because the romantic can’t…

friday morning ramblings from the wino
Welp, the romantic and hubs are en route to Par-ee, which means its just you and me for the next few days, travelers. What better time than now to put down the glass and indulge in a little tête-à-tête with my devoted readers! Lately, my posts have been lacking inspiration, which is probably due to the fact that this lazy traveler hasn’t been traveling. Instead, I’ve been babysitting. In the suburbs. Neat, I know. If there’s one thing babysitting has given me, its time to really go over and over (and over and over) how I got to this point. If you asked…

so, what’s next?
Am I pumped to leave for Paris in just two days? Le duh. This doesn’t mean, however, that I’m not already plotting our next move. As soon as our flight touches down on Monday, you can bet that I’ll be counting down the seconds to what’s next. Though our next big trip won’t be happening until late summer (and details on that to come), we have a few scheduled weekend getaways to hold us over. Here’s what we’ve got on the books: New Hampshire After the hubs pummeled me to the ground and clubbed my knee with his ski pole…
