    the romantic’s 2012 travel resolutions… ish

    January 12, 2012 /

Our travel plans for 2012 are all sorts of up in the air at the moment, but like the wino, that doesn’t mean I don’t have some travel resolutions in mind for the New Year. The hubs is currently in Alabama for work (lame), so last night I hunkered down. I made use of my alone time, and conquered a little list. Learn how to use my DSLR I got a Canon 60D for my birthday last year, and though I was able to pick up the basics pretty quickly, the thing does SO MANY TRICKS. I’m hoping that I’ll…

    the traveler’s diet woes

    January 11, 2012 /

Happy hump day, lovelies! Wednesday typically means two things in the Lazy Traveler universe: wine and Jetsetters. Tragically, this Wednesday, we have neither. GASP! I know what you’re thinking. What went so wrong in our lives that led us to a Wednesday without these two staples? As far as our weekly Jetsetters feature, it’s a lot of work lining them up and we are lazy really busy! As far as the wine…well, this is the most tragic story of them all. We’re in the midst of our annual January Panic. You know the “I ate too many cookies in December and now…

    the wino’s 2012 travel resolutions

    January 10, 2012 /

There is nothing more humbling than being a twenty-six year old Master’s degree recipient and having to resort to babysitting for a living. And I’m not talking about a full-time nanny with a respectable salary. I’m talking Saturday night, $50 later, and my boyfriend had to drop me off AND pick me up, like a fourteen year old schoolgirl! I went from saavvy New Yorker to a child-toting, diaper changing, babysitting phenom in five short weeks! Why am I telling my readers this on a supposedly travel-dedicated blog? I’ll tell you why. Desperation, at least in my opinion, is one…

    television for the traveler

    January 9, 2012 /

Once winter arrives, hubs and I tend to hole up and hibernate for weeks at a time. To cure our seasonal affective disorder (thank you, webMD for allowing me to self-diagnose these things), we usually pick one TV show and have full-on TV marathons. Before you shun me as a couch potato, I swear this cures my wanderlust in a different way! In our quest for a wintertime escape from reality, I find that most of the shows we’ve watched add spots to my travel bucket list in one way or another. Lost – Our most recent TV obsession (I…

the abc’s of travel: the wino

    January 5, 2012 /

Why hello, lil travelers! Coming at you now with my very own ABC’s of travel. Are you ready? A. Age you went on your first international trip: I think I was 12 or 13. Gram surprised me with a trip to Paris! Cue travel bug. B. Best (foreign) beer you’ve had and where: I’ve enjoyed many a’ pint in my day, but there’s nothing better than a perfectly pulled Guinness in a dark Irish pub. C. Cuisine (favorite): French bread and cheese, hands down. Italian runs a very close second, however. D. Destinations, favorite, least favorite and why: Favorite: Paris…
