sneak peek // two nights in dublin
In Dublin’s fair city, where the girls are so pretty… we ate a lot of hamburgers and drank a lot of pints. Don’t worry, we made the most of our two nights in Dublin. Yes, there were pints! But they were mixed in other much more civilized things, such as afternoon tea at The Westbury, drinks with Fiona from Travel Edits, and a tour of Ardgillan Castle. If you remember, an extended stay in Dublin wasn’t originally on our itinerary. But as we were planning, our friends at Aer Lingus convinced us it was the perfect layover city on your…

o-m-g: another travel announcement!
We realized today that we’re only three weeks out (!!!) from our Lazy Travelers’ Switzerland takeover. Minds blown. Thanks to our extreme sense of wanderlust–and the fact that this is our first real trip together in over three years–it’s safe to say that our brains are already in Switzerland. Though we’ve been bombarding you regularly with announcements, we have yet another. We can’t promise it will be our last, but we CAN promise you it’s very exciting… As you know, our original December getaway consisted of four nights and five days bopping around the Lake Geneva region of Switzerland. When…

the lazy travelers make another spur of the moment decision!
We have yet ANOTHER announcement! Seriously October, you’re getting ridiculous. SO, partially because tomorrow is my birthday and I like to give myself presents, but mostly because my blogging counterpart and I like to make rash decisions over a bottle glass or two or wine, we have decided to extend our upcoming European vacation by one night and one city. A place where the beer flows like wine and the beautiful women flock like the salmon of Capistrano! …did you get there yet? Dublin! (insert beer, leprechaun, and clover emoticons here) When we realized our flight back from Geneva had…

the lazy travelers’ guide to paddy’s day
On St. Patrick’s Day, everyone in America wants to be a little bit Irish. I confess: I’m guilty of playing up my half-Irish heritage every year on March 17th (who wouldn’t!), and St. Patrick’s Day has been and will always be one of my favorite holidays. As a little girl, I remember gathering at my Nan’s house with my family, stuffing myself with Irish potatoes, much to my German mother’s disdain. As an adult, I unabashedly wear my green and spend the day at the pub with Irish and non-Irish friends alike. That’s the Irish-American way. Three years ago, the…

weekend warriors // a perfect day in galway
I love autumn — this much you know is true. But, as the days get cooler and my life transforms from the laid-back days of summer to the hustle and bustle of fall, I jump at the chance to escape. When I moved to Ireland for my Master’s program, it took maybe two weeks of grad school before the Scholar and I were desperate for a reprieve. And just like that, a trip to Galway was born. Because we only had a long weekend and a very limited budget, we chose to stay in Ireland — Galway was an easy…
