    jetsetters: marcela of @wanderable

    May 14, 2015 /

We’re not overstating things here. We were thrilled to chat with this week’s jetsetter, Marcela of Wanderable. Wanderable is a new honeymoon registry service… but we’ll get to that in a sec. As two married ladies, we can happily and honestly tell you this much. Each of our wedding days were among our most amazing to date. They perfectly reflected our relationships, and our post-wedding honeymoons were equally as lovely. And then we found Wanderable and now we want two GIANT do-overs. We joke, obbbviously, but we can tell you this much: if we could go back in time, we would…

jetsetters: michael & hilda of newkidz on the block

    April 8, 2015 /

The absolute best part of our recent trip to South Africa with Hands Up Holidays was the work we did with local organization Newkidz on the Block. For two rewarding days, we worked alongside two of Newkidz’ co-founders, Hilda and Michael de Beer. Together, we renovated four daycare centers. It was an honor to aide their mission to improve the lives of some of South Africa’s most disadvantaged children. We can say wholeheartedly that Hilda and Michael are two of the most impressive, caring, and passionate people we have ever met. We could sing their praises for days! Honestly, we…

    jetsetters: hanne, aka Hellvik Hanne

    March 18, 2015 /

Another day, another fellow traveler! Meet Hanne, aka Hellvik Hanne. She’s a Norwegian wanderluster who has visited over 50 countries and counting! In addition to her personal travel, she’s also devoted serious time abroad to various development projects. Additionally, Hanne founded a “Yo voy a Ti” chapter in Uganda, an NGO that works with at risk children and youth. She’s kind of awesome, and she’s this week’s jetsetter. Ever been (or thought you’ve been) in imminent danger while traveling?: I lived a half year in an armed conflict area named Jos in Nigeria. There were some bombs and killings when…

jetsetters: chris of hands up holidays

    March 3, 2015 /

We’re back in the Jetsetter game, and we’re pretty excited. Today, we’re chatting with Chris of Hands Up Holidays. He’s the founder of this stellar organization, and our partner for all things South Africa! Hands Up is a luxury travel company with a major focus on voluntourism — luxury voluntourism, if you will. If that term made you cock your head to the side, you’re not alone. Since sharing our upcoming plans, a few people have asked us how, exactly, that works. At face value, it sounds counter-intuitive. In reality, it’s the best of both worlds! Obviously, dedicating an entire…

jetsetters: brendan of bren on the road

    January 21, 2015 /

With the holidays firmly behind us and 2015 in full swing, we’re bringing our Jetsetters feature back front and center! Meet Brendan of Bren on the Road. He’s a globe-trotting Kiwi who’s been on the road since 2011. Brendan’s attemping to show fellow wanderlusters that you can travel long term while maintaining a minimal budget.  We’d like to travel with him for the following reasons: 1. He thinks most tourist spots are overrated. 2. He’s A-OK with just kicking back and hanging on the beach. 3. If we ever found ourselves in a bind, we’re pretty sure he could help…
