lady romantic & lady wino, the countesses of château challain
As you may have heard — because we haven’t been particularly quiet about it — we recently spent a night at the Loire Valley’s Château Challain. It was basically life-changing. Listen, 2013 was a big year for the Lazy Travelers. We learned a lot about ourselves. Though we won’t bore you with tales of introspection, there was one main takeaway. It is an absolute crime against humanity that we weren’t born into a royal family — complete, of course, with a sprawling château to call our own. We’ve already addressed this multiple times, most notably here and here, but it…

bottoms up: can’t-miss bars in paris
True fact: you can wander into almost any of cafes, restaurants, or bars in Paris and spend the night drinking perfectly delicious and relatively cheap French wine. Obviously, you could spend your entire time in Paris without stopping in any of the bars we’ve outlined below. You’d still be completely satisfied with your drinking experience. But like, we recommend trying at least one. The French do a lot of things right, and serving up some of the best wine in the world is certainly one of them. Oh, but you’re not a wine drinker? merry, merry! an #LTfrancais flashback
OH Christmas, we love you so. The holidays, if you couldn’t tell, are our main squeeze. Mid-december last year took us to Switzerland and Dublin, where we succumbed to pure merry, cheery Christmas spirit almost immediately, mostly thanks to the mass amounts of decorated trees on every corner. Our first day was admittedly perfect, but as soon as the sun set and the lights flickered on, we fell in…

#LTfrancais: living the parisien life in saint-germain-des-prés
You know that travel quote about how no one realizes how beautiful travel is until he gets home and mashes his face into his old, familiar pillow? …Or something like that? Ugh, hold on, it’s all over Pinterest… Yeah, that one. It’s, like, the Joni Mitchell/Dorothy Gale of travel quotes (it’s also courtesy of Lin Yutang in case you collect quotes or something) (nerd). Anyway, you don’t know what you got til it’s gone, there’s no place like home, we get it. Except we kind of don’t get it anymore, because we’re slowly finding that other people’s pillows — especially those found…

paris for a day: the first-timer’s guide
When it comes to Paris, the romantic and I are no rookies. As our favorite city, we’ve both been there more times than we can count– and with good reason. Who can resist Paris? My fiance (!!!), on the other hand, had never stepped foot in the City of Lights. A true, blue Parisian first-timer! Naturally, this meant there was a A LOT I wanted him to see during #LTfrancais. Sadly, our trip was only three days long, and we had only one of those in my beloved Paris. Luckily, his bucket list was short: eat a baguette with every…
