    the wino or the hobo?

Oh hello, old friends. I have some good news and I have some bad news. The good news:  it’s almost the end of my third week as a New York City working woman, and the dust has settled just enough that I think I’ll finally be able to re-instate my title as blogging extraordinaire and happy go-lucky wino. The bad news: I’m apartment-less, yet again, which means I’ve been schlepping my bags from couch to couch all over the island of Manhattan. This may not be bad news for you, but trust me, attempting to carry multiple pieces of luggage…

the wino takes on the big apple: part deux!

I know what you’re thinking. Where the HELL have I been? That’s a very valid question, friends. To make a long story short, let’s just say: a little bit of here and a little bit of there. As you may know, I’m back in New York City with my beloved blogging counterpart (can we get an AMEN?). I promise that as soon as the dust settles I will get back into my regularly scheduled programming and regale you with the stories of my misadventures. Until then, here’s the short of it: DC? No bueno. Philly? Whirlwind. Job? Came out of…

    the wino’s return

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the wino & I have what some might call, um, “big dreams.” A little under a year ago, we were overcome by a serious case of transatlantic wanderlust. We’re talking small business brainstorms and budget proposals and a full on plan to take over the world, all presented to the hubs. As you may have noticed, we did not move across the pond. I blame our lack of fluency in another language. It’s much easier to stay put and speak English in the US than open a boutique in Paris, you know? BUT, in all that time…

    advice from the unemployed

In my four month bout of unemployment, I’d have to say the worst part is hands down the inevitable “job search” conversation I’m forced to have time and time again with friends, family, friends of friends, and perfect strangers. I’ve come to dread social functions where I have to “catch-up” with people or introduce myself to someone new, mostly because the conversation normally goes like this: “What do you do again? Oh, babysitting? But what do you WANT to do? Are you looking for another job?” When I tell them what I studied in school and where my recent job…

    greetings from rockville, maryland!

I’m here, I’m here! After a relatively painless move in the Volvo, I can now call Rockville, Maryland my home. And it ain’t too shabby. Sure, its no booming metropolis. It’s more of a small town with a recently built-up main street, but it’s home and I LIKE IT! Our apartment is right on the main street overlooking the town square, which at the current moment is complete with a CHRISTMAS TREE AND ICE SKATING RINK a la Rockefeller Center. Maybe its the small town atmosphere or maybe it’s my beautiful new kitchen, but I’ve been experiencing a serious case…
