the lazy travelers take europe: the romantic’s highlights

    January 7, 2013 /

It’s still hard to believe that less than one month ago, the wino and I were frolicking through the snowy streets of Switzerland, trying to pinpoint our next meal drink. Unsurprisingly, we’ve spent the better part of the past month regaling our friends with stories from the good ol’ days. We’re those girls, telling anyone who complains about New York, “it’s nothing compared to Switzerland.” Yeah, we’ve been really popular ever since we returned. As with any good getaway, when I think back to our weeklong adventure, it’s all a big blur of snow, cheese, wine, and French accents. But…

swiss itinerary reflections: what could have been

    January 6, 2013 /

We’re not quite sure how it happened, but it has officially been one month since we set off for Switzerland and Ireland. It felt like we spent so much time planning our Swiss itinerary, it’s impossible to believe the trip has come and gone. As hindsight is always 20/20, we’ve spent most of this month reviewing our glorious week of European exploration. As a result, we’ve discussed basically every detail of our days abroad. Final ruling? We planned a pretty stellar Swiss itinerary, especially for first-timers. Including our extended layover in Dublin, we were able to explore 6 cities in…

    quarterlife crisis: finding luxury

    January 2, 2013 /

Thanks to the European extravaganza that was our week in Switzerland and Dublin, we’re entering 2013 a little bit more enlightened. Call it a quarterlife crisis, call it growing pains. But we learned a lot! We learned that not only are we able to live out of a backpack — we actually prefer it, under the right circumstances. Also, we learned that raclette exists and, more importantly: it’s a perfectly suitable meal! OH AND, we learned just exactly WTF l’Escalade really is… which, consequently, led us to learn that we will feel disappointment when we expect a human sacrifice and there is…

    backpacking: yay or nay?

    December 28, 2012 /

We have a confession to make. Up until our recent adventure, we had never actually done the whole backpacking thing. We’ve basically been asking ourselves “backpacking: yay or nay?” for years… and always just coming out blindly with a firm NAY. Surprising, right? Ehh, not really, for those that know us. Both of us have a chronic over-packing issue (though we’re trying our hardest to improve this in the new year). This means traveling with just a backpack always seemed out of the question. Even if we stick to carry-ons only, a regular suitcase always seemed to fit more. Plus,…

photo essay: christmas in switzerland & dublin

    December 24, 2012 /

‘Tis the season, travelers! Ever since our own little pre-Christmas in Switzerland & Dublin, we’ve been full of holiday cheer. Along with temporarily satisfying our wanderlust, our trip to Switzerland & Ireland got us SERIOUSLY in the holiday spirit. So much so, that we almost… kind of feel like Christmas already happened? As far as good tidings and cheer, we really found it all! There were trees. They were bedecked and bejeweled and sitting askew. We even got some major Who-ville vibes from some! There were ornaments. Red and gold and green and glimmering. And again… covered in snow! It…
