travel announcement (part two)! one week in switzerland for the wino

    November 10, 2015 /

It’s been a really big year for me. I mean, really big. So it’s natural that I’m capping it all off with something else really big. One week in Switzerland, in all its Christmassy glory. In January, I married my handsome fiance. I had a year of travel firsts, from my trips to southern and northern California to our epic and life-changing #LTsouthafrica adventure. I spent time in London, re-discovered Spain, and spent many weekends toasting to dear friends at weddings, housewarmings, baby showers, and thirtieth birthday celebrations. Honestly, I could happily hang my hat after 2015, but unbelievably, it’s…

three top euro destinations that no one’s talking about

    December 30, 2014 /

If you’re planning a holiday getaway, chances are you have a few obvious destinations on your list. Perhaps a trip to Vienna or Berlin to stroll the traditional Christmas markets? Or a family getaway to Aspen or Vail to hit the slopes? By the time New Year’s Eve rolls around, you may be on your way to Edinburgh for Hogmanay! Or New York City’s Time Square to watch the ball drop (god bless your soul)! But what about the top Euro destinations that don’t get enough love? We’ve had our fair share of ski trips and holiday markets in traditional…

I’ve been looking forward to writing this post for a while. but now that I sit down to do it, I’m getting majorly overwhelmed by all of the wonderful things we got to see and do (and eat and drink) on our European adventure. Short of posting my journal verbatim, it’s hard to capture everything I loved about our time in Switzerland and Ireland. And no offense guys, but I don’t really want you reading my journal. So alas, you’ll have to settle for my Irish and Swiss highlights. After careful consideration, this is what I’ve come up with: Bern…

swiss itinerary reflections: what could have been

    January 6, 2013 /

We’re not quite sure how it happened, but it has officially been one month since we set off for Switzerland and Ireland. It felt like we spent so much time planning our Swiss itinerary, it’s impossible to believe the trip has come and gone. As hindsight is always 20/20, we’ve spent most of this month reviewing our glorious week of European exploration. As a result, we’ve discussed basically every detail of our days abroad. Final ruling? We planned a pretty stellar Swiss itinerary, especially for first-timers. Including our extended layover in Dublin, we were able to explore 6 cities in…

four days in switzerland: an ode to the swiss rail

    December 16, 2012 /

Back in October when we booked our trip on an OMG-I-NEED-A-BREAK-FROM-WORK whim, we didn’t have much of a plan. Shocking, right? A mutual return to Paris was very tempting, and, quite honestly, almost won. But we looked at a long list of cities and finally settled on Geneva. Armed with a plan to explore the surrounding region, we couldn’t wait to visit Switzerland — a country that was new to both of us. And, best of all, one we would be able to see a TON of thanks to the famous Swiss Rail. We had no idea just how much…
