travel announcement: #LTcoast2coast (part one!)
In exactly 16 days, I’ll be on my way to one of my favorite vacation spots in the world. Forget Europe, I’m talking about the Jersey Shore. Since I was a baby, my family has been traveling to the Jersey coastline during the summer months for quality time together and good old-fashioned American vacations “down the shore.” Over the years, we’ve stayed in just about every town along the southern shore points– Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle City, Ocean City, Brigantine, and Long Beach Island. This year, we’re returning to Avalon, where my family has been renting a house on the…

a perfect day in viking village
One of the best things about returning to the Jersey Shore summer after summer is the chance of stumbling across a place I’ve never noticed before. In my sixth summer visiting my boyfriend’s family in Barnegat Light on Long Beach Island, I discovered Viking Village, a bayside fishing village and collection of shops. I’ve never really factored water into the equation. To be honest, swimming in any natural body of water gives me a serious case of the willies. I don’t think I’ve gone…

i got the blues!
Help me, travelers! I had a three day taste of summer and now I’m having a majorly difficult time getting back to my old routine in Rockville. In three short days in Barnegut Light, I managed to completely remove myself from real life and reach the ultimate stage of relaxation. I imagine this had a lot to do with the amount of beer and ice cream I may have consumed. Besides the embarrassing amount of calories I absorbed, my weekend looked a lot like this: After looking at these photos, can anyone blame me for my post-vacation blues? Any advice…
