a night on the east river
In my three years as a New Yorker, I’ve become a creature of habit. I tend to frequent the same bars, stick to my own neighborhood, and avoid anything remotely touristy. Unless something really alluring catches my attention. Enter the Kimberly Hotel, one of my new favorite hotels, which gave me the chance to experience my beloved city in a whole different way. When I stayed at the Kimberly last month, I learned that the hotel is owned by the same person who owns the New York Health and Racquet Club. This means guests of the Kimberly have access to all…

new york staycation at the kimberly hotel
Earlier in the summer, I spent a night at the Kimberly Hotel with a friend who was in town on business. Long story short: there was rooftop drinking, and views of the Chrysler building. Best of all, there was a suite that was about triple the size of my Upper East Side apartment. Needless to say, I had been itching to return to the Kimberly for weeks. Lucky for you, I’m super selfless and willing to do anything to gather information for my readers. As such, I decided that a mid-week New York staycation at the Kimberly Hotel needed to…

foodie break: crown on the upper east side // (note: NOW CLOSED)
If you’ve been with us for awhile, you might have picked up on something: the hubs and I have moved to France. Returning home after our RTW was bittersweet, and not only because the first part of our adventure was over. It quickly turned into another round of goodbyes with all of our most favorite people. Unfortunately, our three week stint stateside didn’t leave much room to visit our beloved New Yorkers. Notice I said New Yorkers,…

foodie break: il ristorante rosi nyc
– Editor’s Note: Sadly, this location has since closed! Be sure to visit Chef Casella’s other locations around the world. – When I heard the news that my beloved partner in crime and red-headed BFF, the romantic, was making her triumphant return to New York on the same day that my friends Ana from Mrs. O Around the World and Stephane from Four Seasons Doha were visiting, I knew I had to plan something fantastic. Aaaand, cue the inevitable case of panic that every good hostess experiences. It was time to plan an Upper East Side dinner fit for a…

style spotter: nyc sunday brunch
For New Yorkers, there’s one word that’s synonymous with Sunday: brunch. We’ll travel from one end of the city to the next to try the huevos rancheros at a tiny hole in the wall. We’ll wait in an hour-long line for a table, as long as we have sunglasses to shield our bloodshot eyes from the night before. NYC Sunday brunch is, hands down, the best event of the week. End of story. It seems like many moons ago that the romantic & I shared a New York brunch. While browsing through old Instagram photos, I found this gem from…
