welcome to new york // operation: explore astoria

    July 1, 2012 /

As you can tell from the title, our recent weekend excursion was real. It was serious. It was OPERATION: Explore Astoria. Let me back-up. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the hubs and I start e-mailing with B&K, our weekend partners in crime, in early March to try and figure out when and where we’re spending the lazy days of summer. So, somehow, we were completely surprised and confused when all four of us realized a huge oversight! We were going to be in the city this weekend with nothing on the schedule. How did this travesty happen?! Luckily,…

divot stomping & more champagne, please!

    June 4, 2012 /

Oh good! It’s Monday! And a cold and rainy Monday, no less. MY FAVORITE. I mean, I can’t really complain–my weekend was pretty amazing/hysterical. Scratch that… Saturday was amazing/hysterical, Sunday was a big ball of hangover sweatpants and TV marathons and binge eating in bed. Early last week, the hubs & I were offered tickets to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic and were lucky enough to end up in the VIP section. Things I learned? Downtown Manhattan needs more attention from this girl.  I spent a lot of time there in college, and between the waterfront views and Battery Park, I…

    i DO heart new york!

    April 9, 2012 /

This weekend was one of those staycation-type weekends that cured just a little bit of my latest streak of New York angst. I go through this every single time we move–mostly because it makes me realize just how absurd and expensive it is to survive in this city. Lucky for me, my sister came to visit this weekend and the hubs and I were forced to find the best of the best to entertain her (she’s very demanding) (total joke, she’s a complete #1, remember?). Aside from the usual requirements of food, food, and more delicious food, we also made…

    musings on moving

    March 29, 2012 /

WELP, it’s the day before the big move, and I am exhausted, abnormally sore (seriously, girl has gotta hit the gym), and overwhelmed. Like weddings, babies, and medical ailments, moving is one of those things that when you’re in the throes of it, it’s all you can think/breathe/talk about, but when someone else is doing it, you’re like “GOD, can’t you just SHUT UP already?” Unfortunately for you, I am in the midst of moving terror, so no, bitches, I CAN’T shut up about it. I’m also aware this all seems very non-travel related. Packing, of course, is travel related, but packing…

words of hindsight and wisdom for a fifteen year old romantic

    March 26, 2012 /

Once upon a time, in a small town in Pennsylvania, there was a 15 year old girl who met a 16 year old boy and they decided they liked each other. A lot. They spent an absurd amount of time together, and even though they knew they probably weren’t going to be together forever (they were overly logical 15 & 16 year olds), they still talked about how much fun it would be if they did maybe someday live together. The ultimate dream? A life in NYC. But with college plans and talks about the future and all the other…
