the [extremely] lazy girl’s guide to 48 hrs in DC
It’s hard to believe that over a year has gone by since Sean and I got married over pizza and wine on a cold January afternoon. So much has happened over the last year, and yet, it still seems like yesterday. But something that actually was far more recent? A little escape via 48 hrs in DC. Our first year of marriage has been filled with more good times than we could have ever hoped for. As our first anniversary got closer and closer, we knew we wanted to take some time away. Even if only a few days, we…

foodie break: brunch at the hamilton in dc
Though I can hardly believe it, January 31st marked one year since Sean and I tied the knot. The past twelve months rushed by in chaotic fashion. We knew we wanted to spend our anniversary relaxing and, ideally, away from home. We debated our nearby options, packed up the car, and headed two hours south. A weekend of exploring, bar hopping, and brunching at the Hamilton in DC was in order. As you may know, I went to college in the District and lived there again briefly after graduating. This meant we had zero things that we needed or wanted…

weekend getaway: 48 hours in washington, dc
Happy Labor Day, my fellow Americans! During our brief stint in the USA this summer, sort our visas was at the top of our list. It was a whole bunch of stress (dear French embassy: WHY ARE YOU SO MEAN?), but one major perk? An unexpected weekend in our nation’s capital: Washington, DC. Alas, the French don’t really acknowledge this holiday. I am ok with it, though, because I hear they celebrate about 45 other public holidays instead. While the hubs is officially back to school, I’m playing catch-up. So, what better time to review our three weeks stateside than…

autumn getaway: a washington, dc weekend
Because the wino and the hubs both spent their undergrad years in DC, I’m no stranger to the Washington, DC weekend. I also managed to spend one sweltering summer spent interning on K Street. Though I don’t know the ins and outs of the city like they do (I blame the concentric circles), I do have a few must-sees up my sleeve. Previously, it was my favorite place to visit in the springtime. Who can beat cherry blossom season? Then, the hubs and I had the chance to go down for his alumni weekend. I realized that a DC weekend…

countdown to the reunion!
I’ve been trying to brainstorm ideas for a post for the last two hours but my mind is all clouded with excitement for my weekend! In approximately 36 hours the romantic and the wino will be reunited for the first time in THREE MONTHS! This may be our longest tenure apart since we lived across the Atlantic from each other. And booooy do we have plans! By plans, I mean the romantic may have sent me a text with her weekend requirements: wine and cheese. Done and done. Look, we don’t ever set out to be completely irresponsible, but more…
