weekend warriors // chianti is for lovers

    October 6, 2015 /

Without getting too mushy, this year has been one of our very best to date. I don’t say this lightly, because the competition is tough for that title. We’ve had a lot to celebrate as of late, and when we started to plan our upcoming anniversary, it was a no-brainer. We honeymooned in Italy, and few places could be so romantic. After our trip, I can officially confirm: Chianti is for lovers. Though the hubs and I arrived in London in 2014, it was in 2015 that we finally settled into our life here. Now, just over a year after…

3 days in chicago // a first-timer’s guide (part two)

    September 10, 2015 /

If you haven’t already booked a flight to Chicago after reading about all of the places my mom and I ate and drank on our three-day weekend in August, maybe part two will push you over the edge. In only a weekend, Chicago has become one of my favorite US cities, and I’m already itching to return. Luckily, I get to relive things a bit. It’s time for the rest of my guide to Chicago for first-timers. With an abundance of eating and drinking happening, my mom and I had to break up our meals. Cue: A LOT of walking.…

3 days in chicago // a first-timer’s guide (part one)

    September 1, 2015 /

Chicago has long been on The Lazy Travelers’ bucket list, and as two Americans who travel as much as we do, it’s slightly pitiful that neither of us have been there in our near thirty years. When my job had me visiting Chicago for the very first time, I had no choice! I had to make a weekend out of it. Though my husband normally joins me on my weekend journeys, my jaunt to Chicago fell over my mom’s birthday. I decided to make it a girls’ weekend and bring her along for the ride. SORRY, SEAN! We arrived in…

    sunday at the polo

    August 6, 2015 /

Naturally, as Americans living in the UK, we’re doing our best to adapt to the little Britishisms that we find so silly. One of my personal favorites? The way Brits talk about sports. Er, sorry, sport. There’s no “sports” section in the London Evening Standard. It is strictly “sport” here. Weird, right? Not as weird as their inexplicable use of the word “the.” Enter: our recent Sunday at the Polo. (It just sounds f-ing weird.) But no matter, because we are here to blend in, and so blend in we shall! Sunday at the polo! We were invited by the…

weekend warriors // an intro to istanbul with @LuxuryIstanbul

    July 28, 2015 /

Just over a month ago, almost to the day, the hubs and I zipped off for a little intro to Istanbul. The plan was to celebrate his 30th birthday — and, coincidentally, my 40th country! (His was Denmark in the winter. He was on business. I wasn’t invited. Rude.) Clearly, with so many things to celebrate in one little weekend, we had to do it up right. We left early on a Wednesday morning and arrived ready to go. After a snack and a nap, you know… the important stuff. So, ready to join us on our little intro to…
