weekend warriors: there’s no place like rome
On my first visit to Rome, I didn’t get it. I didn’t feel the love. Florence & Tuscany, Cinque Terre, Venice: yep, got it. Italian dreams come true. But, Rome? It lacked character, lacked panache! It was just… Rome. Ok, stop screaming. After a quick 3-day trip earlier this month, I have changed my stance. Rome, you have invaded and conquered my heart. (Get it? Empire jokes!) photo escape: les calanques & the south of france
I feel a little guilty complaining about this seeing as I’ve never even experienced a Polar Vortex, but I’m really not feeling winter in France. January and February have never been my jam, but the small bit of knowledge that it could snow a few feet and give us all reason to go on lockdown was mildly comforting—and almost always enough to get me through the Seasonal Affective Disorder that comes down on all New Yorkers right around this time of year. Alas, the French don’t really acknowledge this holiday. I am ok with it, though, because I hear they celebrate about 45 other public holidays instead. While the hubs is officially back to school, I’m playing catch-up. So, what better time to review our three weeks stateside than…

travel announcement: oh, canada!
Can I just say, springtime in New York City is no springtime in Paris. As summer draws nearer, there’s one thing that’s on every New Yorker’s mind: the weekend getaway. Naturally, when I heard that that the bi-annual TBEX Conference was being held the first weekend of June in Toronto, Canada, it was like music to my ears. Sure, the temperatures in NYC have finally risen above fifty degrees, and we’ve had some pretty gloriously sunny days. But along with the rising temperatures and the changing of seasons comes the increase in tourist traffic on the sidewalks. Add to this…
