    travel announcement: baltimore, maryland

    March 28, 2013 /

Remember the time we told you it’s not about the length of the trip, it’s about the length of the journey? Or… it’s about the experience of the journey? Anyway, it was something extremely profound (I’m sure). It was about the importance of getting away, even if you can only manage a few days. The point is, this weekend I’m packing my bags and going about four hours south to the city of crabs and Natty Bo. That’s right! I’m off to Baltimore, Maryland. I’ve been in New York without any form of escape for over a month. This is…

autumn getaway: a washington, dc weekend

    November 12, 2012 /

Because the wino and the hubs both spent their undergrad years in DC, I’m no stranger to the Washington, DC weekend. I also managed to spend one sweltering summer spent interning on K Street. Though I don’t know the ins and outs of the city like they do (I blame the concentric circles), I do have a few must-sees up my sleeve. Previously, it was my favorite place to visit in the springtime. Who can beat cherry blossom season? Then, the hubs and I had the chance to go down for his alumni weekend. I realized that a DC weekend…

weekend warriors // an autumn getaway in montreal

    October 24, 2012 /

As you may have already realized, we are big on weekend getaways around here. It doesn’t matter what season! Give us a long weekend and we’re happy as traveling clams. The latest addition to my long list of NYC-friendly destinations? An autumn getaway in Montreal. Back in July when I started to eagerly anticipate autumn (normal), the hubs and I decided to book our first fall getaway of the season. Come mid-September, we would fly up to Montreal to celebrate our second anniversary. Sure, it’s still fairly warm in New York in mid-September, but those Canucks hunker down for winter…

the great gramercy sunday funday bar crawl

    August 5, 2012 /

Last weekend, I finally made my triumphant return to the city of all cities. My former stomping grounds, the home of the romantic & the hubs, the big old apple: New York City. Most specifically, I enjoyed the most perfect Gramercy Sunday funday. Unfortunately, my red-headed counterpart and her beau are zip-lining around Costa Rica. This meant couldn’t be in attendance, but I made sure I paid proper homage to one of my favorite cities. I very happily enjoyed a whirlwind 24 hours of drinking and eating. I have my gracious host to thank, the Scholar (remember her?), for showing…

welcome to new york // operation: explore astoria

    July 1, 2012 /

As you can tell from the title, our recent weekend excursion was real. It was serious. It was OPERATION: Explore Astoria. Let me back-up. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the hubs and I start e-mailing with B&K, our weekend partners in crime, in early March to try and figure out when and where we’re spending the lazy days of summer. So, somehow, we were completely surprised and confused when all four of us realized a huge oversight! We were going to be in the city this weekend with nothing on the schedule. How did this travesty happen?! Luckily,…
