i DO heart new york!
This weekend was one of those staycation-type weekends that cured just a little bit of my latest streak of New York angst. I go through this every single time we move–mostly because it makes me realize just how absurd and expensive it is to survive in this city. Lucky for me, my sister came to visit this weekend and the hubs and I were forced to find the best of the best to entertain her (she’s very demanding) (total joke, she’s a complete #1, remember?). Aside from the usual requirements of food, food, and more delicious food, we also made…

the lazy traveler’s guide to the wizarding world of harry potter
Ok, first thing’s first. I have advice to give on this whole Wizarding World of Harry Potter shebang, but I feel there are some important facts to keep in mind before reading: Large crowds stress me out and cause me mild anxiety. Waiting in lines SUUUUCKS. I only like the children of people I know and like. I don’t do roller coasters. I’m not really a theme park person. Some of my tips may be a big old “DUH” for those of you who frequent such places. With all that in mind, I can tell you that I LOVED HP…

butterbeer & mermaids & golf carts, oh my!
WHY hello! I’m one year older and spent my weekend in a weird dichotomy between feeling ten years old while theme park hopping on Friday and 65+ while pool hopping and golf cart riding in a retirement community the rest of the weekend. It was perfection. More details to come, but I thought this morning would be an appropariate time to shower you with iphone photos. By which I mean to say: standard Monday morning brain fuzz is affecting me from writing anything coherent. Don’t worry: a full review of the Wizarding World of HP is in order for later…

fallin for great falls
Waking up on a Sunday sans hangover is rare in the lazy travelers universe. And so when Sunday morning came around and my head was free and clear of that familiar post-wine misery, I decided to take life by horns…or the bootstraps?…whatever it is you say when you seize the day. The forecast was calling for a sunny 70-degree day and I was/still am feeling a little sluggish from my reunion weekend with the romantic, so I mandated a day of light athleticism. Low and behold, there’s a beautiful national park only a twenty-minute drive from downtown Rockville (who knew!),…

a very dc/rockville reunion: a lesson in being a hostess with the mostest
Was this weekend a mirage? Did a Lazy Travelers reunion really happen, or was it a dream to remind me how much more fun my life was when I had a third roomie? I mean, the wino had to sleep on an air mattress and the hubs had to deal with being ganged up on 120% of the time, so maybe they’ll feel differently, but things I miss: November 2011. Side bar: the wino’s boyfriend needs an alias and will not appreciate if I go back to calling him LL, even if it IS in honor of the first time…
