    the wino’s travel substitutes

    February 24, 2012 /

Maybe its the winter blues or maybe its because I’m a girl and this is just what girls do, but I definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Residents of Rockville beware, this girl is CRANKY and I’ve decided that there’s nothing in the whole wide world that can help. Except maybe a weekend getaway, which isn’t at all possible because I’m babysitting four children under the age of eight on Saturday. Woe is me! There are only a few things that I know can get me out of this funk. Because the romantic can’t…

the paris catacombs: things to know

    February 23, 2012 /

On our first trip to France, I desperately wanted to see the Paris catacombs. It didn’t work out due to construction, and I was disappointed. I hate scary movies, cannot handle haunted houses, and really only like Halloween for the excuse to dress up like something ridiculous and eat a lot of candy. But something about the catacombs intrigued me. To preface: on a whim, we bumped our visit up a day, and were thus thoroughly unprepared. We were by…

Things we love: when the week starts off on a Tuesday and Wine Wednesday comes out of nowhere to surprise us with its glory. Other things we love: makeup tips, gallivanting, and alliteration. This is all very lucky for us, as today’s jetsetter is travel fiend and MAC Makeup extraordinaire: Alexa of Gallivant Gal. If her cute blog layout doesn’t do it for you, then maybe you can find some excitement in her travel tales and makeup advice?  Get to know Alexa below and then pop over to Twitter and follow her @GallivantGal! adventures in wine tasting: ô chateau, paris

    February 20, 2012 /

While in the midst of not planning our Parisian weekend, I came across this post about Ô Chateau and immediately sent it along to the hubs. As expected, he replied with a reservation confirmation and a “WOO HOOOOO!” Like the wino, the hubs and I have had our share of boozy adventures, and we’ve slowly been able to expand our list of wine/beer likes and dislikes, as well as add a few techniques into the mix. For one, hubs is a huge fan of “letting wine breath.” This is unfortunate for me, because I’m a huge fan of asking for another pour. Ô Chateau was…
