    jetsetters: @stacey_liezl

    November 23, 2011 /

Today’s Jetsetter has roots we’re seriously jealous of: born in Cape Town, currently living in the UK, and with a three-year stint teaching in South Korea, Stacey also traveled to Thailand and the Philippines while writing for 10 Magazine. Oh ok, can we have your life? On top of it all, she emailed us with this cute little quip: “I’ve been back in the UK for 9 months and still get itchy feet.” Stacey Liezl, we’d like to formally ask you to be our best friend (and take us to Cape Town with you). Enjoy reading her travel tales below,…

    à bientôt, new york

    November 22, 2011 /

To my dear friend, New York City, I’ve spent the last fourteen months with you, and boy was it great. To the rest of the world, you’re a star. You’re Carrie Bradshaw and Miracle on 34th Street and the place where Ross and Rachel fell in love. You’re the city that never sleeps. The place that Frank Sinatra croons about and the place Lady Gaga calls her hometown. To me, you aren’t any of these things. To me, you’re a little bit of a bitch. You eat my hard-earned paycheck for breakfast. You smell a little funny, especially in the…

    four days in london

    November 21, 2011 /

I’m not going to say that hubs and I were in a rush to leave Brussels, but I will say that we tried to move our train up to Wednesday and contemplated the £200 fee (I contemplated it, hubs automatically said no. I then contemplated leaving hubs in Brussels). But we stuck it out, and Thursday morning we woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, and made our way to London via Eurostar. Day 1 – THURSDAY Morning & Afternoon – After our lovely ride through the Belgian and French countrysides, we arrived at St. Pancras Station. This was exactly…

    bucket list takedown: the cloisters

    November 18, 2011 /

I’m proud to announce that with under a week left in New York City, I’m more than halfway through my bucket list! Aaand curtsy. Fourth on my list was The Cloisters, a satellite section of The Metropolitan Museum of Art dedicated solely to Medieval art and architecture, located at the very northwestern tip of Manhattan. To get to The Cloisters, you can catch the subway from anywhere in Manhattan ($2.25 for a single ride), but it requires a few line transfers if you’re heading from the Met building on the Upper East Side. Coming up from the subway stop at…

    brussels: hits & misses

    November 17, 2011 /

You probably already guessed from my last post: Brussels wasn’t our favorite. We had braced ourselves for this! When you plan a multi-city vacation, there’s always the chance that at least one place will disappoint. Luckily, we had a few places we loved, too. SO naturally, I thought it necessary to combine all of the above for a lil round-up of our Brussels hits & misses. Hits  Aroma Cafe (now closed) // This place was right on Grand Place so I’m assuming it was overpriced and touristy, but we were in a daze. All we wanted was our Belgian waffle…
