two days in bruges // the hits & misses

    November 3, 2011 /

After we settled on two days in  Bruges for one of Euro trip stops, I kept reading that it was the “Venice of the north.” To be perfectly honest… that did make me a little nervous. We were in Venice last year for our honeymoon, and don’t get me wrong! Venice was absolutely gorgeous. But by the second day, we were itching to move onto Florence. Having set aside two days for Bruges, I started to wonder if we would be in the same predicament. Annnnnd we totally were. But that doesn’t mean it was a bad thing! We once…

    jetsetters: iain mallory of @MalloryOnTravel

    November 2, 2011 /

Today’s jetsetter is Iain Mallory, who was among the first travel bloggers we discovered. Extremely devoted to traveling and tweeting (@MalloryOnTravel), we’re actually not sure if he does anything BUT travel and tweet (seriously, Iain, do you sleep??). His Twitter feed is often one of our main No Travel Required resources, if we’re being honest. Plus, his most recent trip to the French Pyrénées had us seriously jealous. Enjoy his travel tales! Favourite Place: I do not really have anywhere I consider a favourite place, having enjoyed every destination I have visited. Usually the place I am currently visiting is…

bucket list takedown: the high line

    November 1, 2011 /

I’m sad to say that this weekend I said goodbye to my pretty little Upper East Side apartment with exposed brick and a fireplace. After a treacherous 36-hour move from Manhattan to Pennsylvania in the October Blizzard (?!?!) I returned to the city on Sunday and started my three and a half week stint as a hobo. Being homeless in New York City has its perks. My bank account surely enjoys the break from paying rent, and staying at the Romantic’s place means good food and wine almost every night. But the hard truth is that I’m living out of…

Happy Halloween, travelers! The wino was supposed to work an event tonight but was let free (woo hoo!) so we’re going out and about on the Upper East Side as Batman, Robin, & a Pan Am Stewardess. Woo hoo! We just assume that any deserted highway out west is a place to avoid at night. 6 Places To Have A Paranormal Experience I genuinely can’t tell if I’ve seen this before, or just feel like I have because it’s pretty much my life every.single.day. The beat of New York THIS IS HORRIFYING. A Capuchin Crypt Full Of Well-Preserved Old Friars Can…

    two days in bruges

    October 31, 2011 /

Bruges was everything we pictured. It was quaint and adorable, and the perfect place for two days of strolling around, enjoying the scenery. This charming town was added as the calm of our trip, slowing things down in between our urban hiking through Amsterdam, Brussels and London. Spoiler alert: it delivered. Day 1 // Sunday On Sunday afternoon, we arrived in Bruges, after an emotional morning at the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam. We hopped on a local train, pain au chocolat in hand, and two hours later, we were in Belgium. Though there is a bus option if you…
