foodie break // 2016’s best restaurants in notting hill
Next month, Jeff and I will mark a year and a half of living in London. This by no means makes us an expert in, well, anything, but we have spent a fair amount of our time here eating. And eating and eating. In fact, we’ve spent the last 18 months on a tear through basically all of the restaurants in Notting Hill. An important fact: pregnancy kept me from drinking for about 50% of our UK expat life. This means that trying new restaurants, especially for brunch and lunch, has become one of our favorite weekend date activities. Our…

the lazy baby has arrived!
That’s right, five months after our announcement post, our little lazy baby has arrived! This weekend, one week before my official due date, Jeff and I walked out of our flat. We slowly walked to the hospital, not quite believing that my water had broken and this was happening. 16 hours later, at 2:02 PM GMT, we welcomed a 7 lbs. 7 oz. Margot Louise to the world. Two weeks before my official due date, the hubs and I met up with friends and their one-year-old for brunch. I was feeling more than a little overwhelmed by our pre-baby to…

a lazy girl’s guide to 48 hours in geneva
When one of my best friends, Amy, moved from New York City to Geneva for a new job, I started plotting ways I could make the trek across the Atlantic and meet her in Switzerland. After almost a year and a half of waiting, the stars finally aligned with a two-part ultimate reason. Finally, I would have 48 hours in Geneva. Reason #1. With my 30th birthday looming on the horizon, my mom wanted to throw me a birthday party. I kindly declined. Instead, I suggested a different idea. What if we planned a mother/daughter birthday getaway to see Amy…

weekend warriors #LTfriendsgiving // thanksgiving in val-d’isère, part 2
Oh, you thought we were finished professing our love for our Thanksgiving in Val-d’Isère? You were wrong. So very, very wrong. If you read the first post detailing our #LTfriendsgiving weekend in this snowy alpine town, you’ll know we spent the majority of our time eating and drinking with our feet up by the fire. Yes, we could have happily camped out in our chalet for the entire weekend. But Saturday morning marked the official opening of Val-d’Isère’s ski season! As long-time (but admittedly infrequent) skiers, Carolyn and Jeff were itching to hit the slopes. And although he had never…

weekend warriors #LTfriendsgiving // an intro to thanksgiving in val-d’isère
The holidays have come and gone, and we’re pretty sure that no one’s more mixed up than we are to see this season go. It kicked off with an intro to Thanksgiving in Val-d’Isère that we’ll never forget. After that, it was basically non-stop Christmas cheer until the New Year. So on the one hand, we have a whole year to wait until Santa returns. Nearly 365 days until we eat all the Christmas cookies guilt-free. Whomp whomp. On the other hand, the end of this month marks the wino’s first wedding anniversary! AND somewhere in there, we have the…
