travel inspiration // escape via eau de parfum

    September 9, 2011 /

As it’s the first official day of Fashion Week, we wanted to give fair warning: this next week is going to be a bit rough on posting. We’re chock full of travel inspiration, but lack the actual time to, um, get inspired. We do have a great jetsetter lined up for Wednesday (hint hint: he’s the daddio of yours truly), at least. And we will definitely try and get a few more things up! Just don’t get mad if we’re slacking with No Travel Required, merci. Anyway, because of all the craziness, this morning I woke up feeling achy and…

you can take the girl out of the honky tonk…

    September 8, 2011 /

I’m a city girl through and through. I thrive on the hustle and bustle of city living. I like my public transportation and my corner coffee shop and the convenience of having the world at my fingertips no matter what time of the day. But, I can’t deny my country roots. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and there’s nothing like a weekend spent getting back into country-living. This past weekend, I went to the country. And I don’t mean the Dutch farmlands of Pennsylvania. I mean Floyd, Virginia – dirt roads, country stores, people in overalls, the real deal…

    jetsetters: @edwardschmit

    September 7, 2011 /

Today’s Jetsetter is twitter fiend, coffee addict, and newly-minted Astorian, Eddie (@edwardschmit). He makes up for our lack of US travels and wants you to know that he doesn’t REALLY have bedbugs. (But we’d also like to mention that he’s been a little overly insistent that that was a joke, so you guys make the call). Favorite Place: East Village, New York City. I lived there for a year in the smallest bedroom you’ve ever seen, but it was totally worth it for the location. More importantly, favorite meal:  The “feast” option at The Three Broomsticks in the Wizarding World of…

reasons you should be glad the summer is almost behind us

    September 2, 2011 /

Like the wino, I’m not afraid to admit that I’m pro-autumn. I may be biased–I fell in real love with New York City fall semester of my freshman year, and find that most of the best things happen to me between September and November. I am all about the crisp weather and butternut squash and riding boots. Blame it on my fair skin,  but even though I’ll miss the summer, I won’t miss it nearly as much as I’m going to enjoy wearing jeans and blazers and keeping the windows open on the weekends. And so, while the wino’s post…

This is both gorgeous and unsettling. Wow! Lightning striking the Eiffel Tower. Apparently if you want to see this in real life, you have to be an experienced cave diver. We’ll settle for photos. Underwater wonderland: Divers take the plunge to reveal stunning images of beautiful crystal cave in depths of Russia Warning: do NOT Google image search “Island of the Dolls.” The scariest spots around the world We’d add Philadelphia to this list too! Boat House Row looks best against the changing leaves. America’s Best Cities for Fall Travel Lastly, some Thursday cute for you: This totally stole our hearts this…
