    foodie break: whitman & bloom

    January 6, 2014 /

Hey, guess what? It’s freaking freezing. Oh, you didn’t hear? Turn on any news station and they’ll tell you alllll about it. If you’re like moi, you probably care less about how cold it is and more about where you can hide out until it’s over. My recommendation? New York City’s Whitman & Bloom. The James Joyce inspired restaurant brightens up an otherwise boring block on 3rd Avenue in Murray Hill, luring in the passerbys with its warm lighting and hip, but unpretentious vibe. Inside, it’s a mix of New York modernity and old European charm, mixing frosted glass and…

bottoms up: can’t-miss bars in paris

    January 5, 2014 /

True fact: you can wander into almost any of cafes, restaurants, or bars in Paris and spend the night drinking perfectly delicious and relatively cheap French wine. Obviously, you could spend your entire time in Paris without stopping in any of the bars we’ve outlined below. You’d still be completely satisfied with your drinking experience. But like, we recommend trying at least one. The French do a lot of things right, and serving up some of the best wine in the world is certainly one of them. Oh, but you’re not a wine drinker? First, shame. Second, we still have…

no travel required: #frifotos // best of 2013

    January 3, 2014 /

Well, hello and happy day! Today’s #frifotos theme is #2013best, and we, admittedly, had one amazing 2013. Celebrating the best of 2013 is a breeze, it’s true. Despite the fact that we weren’t in the same place for most of it, we made do. And really, what could be better than a round-up of our faces, just as they looked in 2013?! Not much, really. At least our moms think so. We started off the year living in the same city, and made the most of our last two months together in Manhattan. Here we are on our Brewed in…

    señor gaudí: a photo essay

    January 2, 2014 /

Pre-Barcelona, I didn’t know much about Gaudí. I only knew the most basic of basics: he was quirky, and Sagrada Família needs some major work. Honestly, I  kind of lumped him together with Dalí and called it a day. We did the bare minimum of touristy things during our quick trip to Barca. Well, unless you count eating all the tapas as touristy, which I DO. But we saved both Park Güell and Sagrada Família for the same day, and skipped his house this round. I’d love to tell you I learned so much about the man, the myth, and the legend, but alas… I did…

one bucket list item for 2014

    December 31, 2013 /

A note from The Lazy Travelers: On the last day of 2013, it seems fitting to reflect on everything that’s happened this year—and there’s no shortage of things for us to reflect on. Though we’re normally light-hearted (and maybe even a little drunk) a good majority of the time, we wanted to spend a few moments to reflect on something that touched us both this year: the loss of our friend, Anita. A few of our dear friends and fellow bloggers joined together for a small tribute, which we’ve all agreed to share on our respective sites with the hope…
