six days in the kingdom of cambodia

    October 10, 2013 /

We split our six days in Cambodia between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, and—surprise, surprise—we were the laziest of lazy travelers. I mean, truly. Thanks to the use of SPG points at the Le Meridien Siem Reap, we had room in the budget for a proper splurge at the Plantation in Phnom Penh. It just might rank as one of my very favorite hotels of our trip. And, given our record, this is an impressive feat. It was so, so hot in Cambodia. This means we spent far more time at the hotel pools than I usually deem appropriate. After our whistle-stop…

    style spotter: english puddlejumping

    October 9, 2013 /

My recent plan for London in November means that I’ve been consciously seeking out all things Union Jack, just to stare at and love. I’m wistfully envisioning a week full of English puddlejumping and afternoon teas and Sunday roasts. Very lucky for me, during my quick trip, I’ll be joining Mrs. O at her perfect little cottage in Henley-on-Thames, but I’m just not sure it’ll be enough. I’m daydreaming of rolling hills, wandering sheep, and pints galore. We’re talking peeping leaves and hopping puddles from Guernsey to Brighton and back again. Shop the look here! Who’s with me? xo! the…

    european breakfasts: a love letter

    October 7, 2013 /

Though it’s only been a few months since our #LTeuropa adventure, I’m already itching to make my return to Europe. MOSTLY to see the romantic and satiate my never-ending wanderlust, but also because I kind of miss European breakfasts. …And by kind of, I mean fiercely. I know, I know! I’m a New Yorker– home of the best bagels in all the land! Bagels will always have a special place in my heart (and belly), but I can’t kick my obsession with European breakfasts. And who could blame me? The coffee. I’ve always been a coffee drinker, but I became…

a night on the east river

    October 6, 2013 /

In my three years as a New Yorker, I’ve become a creature of habit. I tend to frequent the same bars, stick to my own neighborhood, and avoid anything remotely touristy. Unless something really alluring catches my attention. Enter the Kimberly Hotel, one of my new favorite hotels, which gave me the chance to experience my beloved city in a whole different way. When I stayed at the Kimberly last month, I learned that the hotel is owned by the same person who owns the New York Health and Racquet Club. This means guests of the Kimberly have access to all…
