#lteuropa bucket list takedown: travel to prague

    September 25, 2013 /

After seven full days in Vienna spent conquering our #LTeuropa bucket list, it was time to bid adieu to Austria and board a train to Prague. Having never been to Central or Eastern Europe, we knew we wanted to see as many cities as we could during our two week stay, and the trip from Vienna to Prague seemed like an easy way to end our #LTeuropa itinerary. Easy? Perhaps. We took an early morning train and didn’t have to switch trains or routes anywhere along the journey. Buuut enjoyable it was not, thanks to pretty massive hangovers from our…

10 days in vietnam // vietnam from top to bottom

    September 23, 2013 /

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Before our RTW, Southeast Asia had never been at the top of my list — let alone a full 10 days in Vietnam. Pretty much all of South America and most of Africa trumped my desire to head toward the backpackers’ holy land. It’s not that I NEVER wanted to go! I just had a laundry list of places I’d rather see first. Obviously, SEA ultimately finagled its way into our five month plan. As soon as we settled on our itinerary, I suddenly realized just how much I want to…

town mouse, country mouse // a weekend in paris

    September 19, 2013 /

After a restorative weekend in Paris and a relaxing visit from two of our favorite New Yorkers, I’m feeling a bit introspective. Bear with me here, but… Did you know that it has been one full month + four days since the hubs, the pug, and I boarded a flight to France? And did you know that it has been one full month + three days since we departed said flight? Then drove to our new-to-us cottage? Where the pug promptly pooped on the floor of our new-to-us kitchen? Well, it has and yes, unfortunately, he did. (Whatever, he’d had…

#lteuropa bucket list takedown: throw an american barbecue

    September 18, 2013 /

When we decided to hunker down in Vienna for a full seven days–which is a lot of time to stay in one place in the Lazy Travelers’ universe–we knew if we didn’t come up with a list of things to occupy ourselves, we’d most likely spend our days and nights drinking too much wine and eating too many carbs. After racking our brains, want to know what we came up with first? Throw a party at our apartment so other people could join us drinking too much wine and eating too many carbs. Turns out this party was meant to…

peak season travel & how to ensure survival

    September 16, 2013 /

If you’ve been around here for awhile, you know one thing is true: we don’t really travel during the peak season. Be it Amsterdam in October or Costa Rica in July, the hubs and I generally seek out better deals to help lighten our budget load. Still, we have often left a place wondering what it would be like in full swing? Though I have yet to ride a bike through the tulip fields of Holland or take a sunny stroll through the Arenal rainforest, two important facts have recently come to my attention: Summer picnics on the Champ de…
