au revoir, mes amis! (except not really)

    August 15, 2013 /

This is it, little travelers! Bags are packed, pug papers are in order, and a car is reserved to pick us and our overstuffed suitcases up when we arrive at Charles De Gaulle tomorrow morning. We’re moving to France! As you can imagine, it’s been an insane week–the kind of insanity that only moving can provide, with the extra special layer of waiting for a visa from an office full of very, very cranky crankpants. But, never fear, visas are (FINALLY) here. Still, it won’t officially feel real until we’re in our new-to-us little cottage in our new-to-us little village,…

style spotter: sydney style, day & night

    August 8, 2013 /

Throughout our RTW, most of the things I missed revolved around food: pizza, bagels, Shake Shack… you know, the usual. Material stuff, on the other hand, wasn’t bothering me. I adjusted to living out of a backpack pretty quickly, and, surprisingly enough, I didn’t miss having a diverse wardrobe the way I had expected. Until, of course, we got to Australia, and my Sydney style was NOT up to snuff. For the first three weeks, it was easy: beach hopping around Hawaii and Fiji doesn’t require much. Then, month two kicked off in New Zealand, and between the camping and…

taste hungary: eating our way through budapest

    August 7, 2013 /

After spending our first night in Budapest wining and dining at the Four Seasons Gresham Palace, we woke up ready to continue our culinary exploration of Hungary. Though we normally wander our way through a city rather than schedule a specific itinerary, we decided that with only forty eight hours in Budapest, we’d leave the planning up to the experts. We chose Taste Hungary as our guide, a food and wine company that focuses on true cultural experiences. Seeing as they have a recent post on their own blog about the best places to daydrink in Budapest, we thought we’d…

    jetsetters: @ShortTravelTips

    August 6, 2013 /

This week’s Jetsetter puts us to shame. Meet Vi from Short Travel Trips. He’s Lithuanian born and bred but has lived in Macedonia, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. He’s visited 54 countries, has flown more than 300,00 thousand miles, and he has no plans of slowing down. What we’re saying is: he’s a baller. Read on, lovers: Favorite Place: It is very hard to pick, but one of my favorite places is Australian outback. More importantly, favorite meal: Actually I didn’t care about food at all J I like to taste new dishes and don’t afraid to have snack on the streets…

hidden secrets: touring melbourne’s lanes & arcades

    August 5, 2013 /

Out of everywhere in Australia, the hubs and I wanted to spend the most time in Melbourne. We decided well in advance that we’d turn the city into a mini home base, and stayed for a full ten days before making our way across the rest of the country. Having recently confirmed that walking tours are the perfect intro to a new city, we were excited to start our exploring early, and joined Hidden Secret Tour’s Lanes & Arcades tour on one of our first mornings. Because I am not about to follow some guy carrying a giant orange umbrella…
