    style spotter: nyc sunday brunch

    May 6, 2013 /

For New Yorkers, there’s one word that’s synonymous with Sunday: brunch. We’ll travel from one end of the city to the next to try the huevos rancheros at a tiny hole in the wall. We’ll wait in an hour-long line for a table, as long as we have sunglasses to shield our bloodshot eyes from the night before. NYC Sunday brunch is, hands down, the best event of the week. End of story. It seems like many moons ago that the romantic & I shared a New York brunch. While browsing through old Instagram photos, I found this gem from…

turning our fijian frowns upside down

    May 5, 2013 /

Though our trip to Fiji didn’t go as smoothly as a travel day should, all was not lost. It was, in fact, raining when we touched down, but we weren’t feeling stressed for long. For one thing, this was our view as we landed: In the ultimate case of irony, a joyful Fijian band was singing and playing—yep, you guessed it—ukuleles at the arrival gate. This set the mood, but also served as a very clear example of an appropriate time to sing and play the ukulele. More importantly, every single airport employee was smiling! The customs agent wished me…

sailing the (un)friendly skies: our journey to fiji begins

    May 1, 2013 /

Our journey to Fiji started off with a travel day where everything went wrong. The driver of our shuttle from Waikiki to Honolulu was unaware of road closures that affected his route. Our bags were over the carry-on weight limit (because the carry-on weight limit was .00002 ounces). Plus, due to mass amounts of rain in Hawaii, my hair was frizzing. Real life problems, you guys. Then, as we boarded our near-empty flight to Nadi, an attendant gleefully told us most had cancelled. Apparently, it had started to rain a few days earlier and there was no end in sight.…

no travel required // #winewednesday, temporary roots, & a lost egyptian city

    May 1, 2013 /

Ohhh hey. Happy #winewednesday! Unfortunately, the wino is off the sauce this week in preparation for a 10-mile race on Sunday. Fortunately, every day is #winewednesday for the romantic & the hubs since they are currently in Australia on leg four of their RTW. For everyone else, wine or not, you’ll always have our daily dose of NTR. YA WELCOME. Neither of us have ever been to Catalonia, YET. But obviously, every single one of these photos are really just rubbing salt in our wounds. Searching for a Place to Put Down Temporary Roots Um yeah, is this a lost…

no travel required // making light work for you, endangered historical sites, & a peek at cape town

    April 30, 2013 /

Well, well, well, good afternoon! Err, morning? Evening? Guess it all depends on where you are. EITHER WAY! No matter what time you’re reading, it’s time for our regularly scheduled round up of travel reads of the day. Ready for a look at making light your bud, some endangered historical sites in Europe, and a lil peek at Cape Town, South Africa? WE ARE! WELL, this is enlightening. Get it? See what we did there? No, ok, then. Anyway, the golden hour will henceforth be known as: “the only hour during which you may photograph us.” We like to look…
