the romantic’s 2012 travel resolutions… ish
Our travel plans for 2012 are all sorts of up in the air at the moment, but like the wino, that doesn’t mean I don’t have some travel resolutions in mind for the New Year.
The hubs is currently in Alabama for work (lame), so last night I hunkered down. I made use of my alone time, and conquered a little list.
Learn how to use my DSLR
I got a Canon 60D for my birthday last year, and though I was able to pick up the basics pretty quickly, the thing does SO MANY TRICKS. I’m hoping that I’ll be comfortable enough before our next big trip to really feel like I have a hold on what I’m doing. Aperture, ISO, exposure? You will be mine in no time.
Looking at that photographer’s stance… eek.
Improve mon Francais
My co-worker lent me a copy of Rosetta Stone and last night I took my first stab at it… and loved it! Though I took four years of French in middle school & high school, I didn’t come away with much. Sure, I can tell you that I am a girl, sing you the French alphabet, and crow like a French rooster (“cocorico”). But that will only get une fille so far, non? I’ll blame my public school French teachers for this lapse in my abilities. But either way: I want to be a little more comfortable speaking French by the time we go to Paris than I was the last time. And that is just three short weeks from today!
Poach an egg
Oh, that’s not travel related, you say? YES HUH. The best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had was in London–at The Wolseley as you may remember. A few days later, at Muriel’s Kitchen, I once again ordered a dish involving poached eggs and I vowed then and there that I would learn how to poach an egg. I haven’t taken a stab at it yet. I actually keep forgetting that I made this vow, but New Year’s resolutions are a good time to remember these things, right? But I have high hopes for myself.
You can see mine in the back! Hubs’s breakfast apparently took precedence
(or I ate mine too quickly…)
Alright, 2012. Let’s do this.
xo!

Love the to-do list! The Rosetta Stone has been on my wish list for awhile…
the lazy travelers
i definitely recommend it! my copy was lent to me, but i still think it’d be worth buying a copy based on my experience so far.
